[QUOTE="haris12121212"]Everything else seems possible indeed but the last alst part "It has learnt, for example, that nobody really wants the version with the smaller, 20 gigabyte memory, and that the games that work best are the ones that can accommodate a lot of simultaneous online players." Did I understood right, everyone wants the 60Gb version instead of the 20Gb one?

The 20Gb version isn't even avaliable in the UK

Yeah...and after repairing the 360s 6 times, they tell you that your warranty is over and you can't repair them anymore:lol:

Who the bloody hell has had their 360 repaired 6 times... I wanna know..

I'm sure soulkillah will come up with a dozen "friends" who can "swear" they each went through 8 Xbox 360s. And of course soulkillah's credibility is beyond reproach

well as I live in the UK and have 1 Gamestation, 2 Game stores, 1 Virgin Store, a HMV and 1 indy right in town, as well as others around the area. I would ask of the guy making the forecasts to explain why all these stores are STILL taking pre-orders. Oh, and BTW, you know that 'rumour' going round that in fact Sony have managed some master logistics plan and have vast amounts of PS3's waiting to cover a 'massive' demand..... The local HMV store had a brainwave; They printed loads of A4 off on a printer with thier allocation at the top, and a seperate number on each sheet, counting down to zero. Trouble for the rumour is, they only had an allocation of 100 to start, and as of last week they still had 34 left......... The bottom line, 1 PS3 plus 1 tv cable plus one game, you get just about enough change out of £500 for a big mac meal. People are just not dropping that kind of money on the table to play games.

I think Scandinevia is the only zone in europe that sells 850$+ Ps3s...rest of Europe is 600$...

no its $840 everywhere else in europe and I think tis even more expensive than that in scandinaiva

[QUOTE="Guiltfeeder566"]I predict fialure over super high price. Also if M$ has a price drop between now and Christamas its all over.SoulKillah
I think Ps3 has a good chance of gaining ground with the European release! it might really boost its sales by a lot!

I have to agree that the price of the PS3 is really gonna hurt it here in the UK. I have a friend who works in a games chain store and they were told to get 100 pre orders each store, they are struggling to get more than 20 - 30 each, people come up interested and turn away (giving a funny look) when they realise the price is so high, and it is for a games console. If it doesn't sell out on day one, it could be quite embarrassing for SCE. I've said it so many times, consoles shouldn't breach the £300 mark at launch.

You can still pre order it in amazon.co.uk. The Wii and X360 pre-orders sold out in minutes. Having surplus stock is an excuse, it just because its not selling well world wide. How come the old tech Wii is hard to get but the new tech harder to manufacture PS3 isn't. But I know they will find some way to make it sound beneficial to them.

Bleh...I doubt it will sell 1.5 million and even if it does, the lead Wii has will be large enough to keep it ahead.

[QUOTE="SoulKillah"]Here's a LINK to the original...8)

Sony is expected to sell up to 1.5 million of its PlayStation 3 consoles in Britain this year, putting it on track to outstrip Nintendo’s cheaper Wii within 12 to 18 months of its launch. The consumer electronics giant has made 220,000 of the £425 consoles available for the UK launch on Friday, a figure so large that retailers are reporting none of the supply problems that have plagued rival launches. However, analysts and retailers have warned against interpreting the absence of a stock squeeze as a negative sign. Nick Parker, an analyst with Screen Digest, said: “The lack of shortage is supply driven; what Sony has shipped will sell. We estimate that Sony will sell around 4 million units in Europe this year, with 1 to 1.5 million in the UK”. Related Links * Mastermind weakened brainchild’s defences The specialist firm believes that Sony’s PlayStation 3 could overtake the Wii– a device aimed at a predominately young audience – during 2008, and possibly towards the end of the year, with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 likely to follow. This is despite the high price of the PlayStation 3 compared with the £180 Wii or £265 Xbox 360. According to retailers, when Microsoft launched the Xbox 360 in 2005, about 70,000 units were available in the UK, while the first day stock of the Nintendo Wii last autumn amounted to 105,000. Both launches were accompanied by stock shortages. A spokesman for Woolworths said of the PlayStation 3: “This is the first console launch for years where we anticipate that we will be able to have consoles available at the day of launch in every single Woolworths store”. When Sony launched the PlayStation 2, it was against the unthreatening backdrop of a flagging Sega Dreamcast platform. This time around, there will be plenty of challenges, with Microsoft making major strides in the console market and Nintendo’s Wii proving an unexpected hit. Some retailers believe that Sony will cut the £425 price of the PlayStation 3 before Christmas. The price reflects the sheer cost of the complex boxes, which include the pricey Blu-ray, high-definition DVD players. However, the recent strengthening of the yen may help justify a price cut. Sony is also able to play the currency game more effectively in Europe and the UK than in the US. The per-machine losses in Europe are more or less negated by currency exchange rates. In the run-up to the PlayStation 3 launch, Xbox 360 sales are only 1 per cent higher than they were at the same time last year, according to Screen Digest, suggesting that demand has peaked. Consoles are expected to hit the highest level of sales in the third and fourth years after their launch. Sony has a lot riding on the powerful PlayStation 3, both in terms of its bottom line and its reputation. But in the four months since the Japanese and US launches of the machine, Sony has gleaned knowledge that will stand it in good stead for a European launch. It has learnt, for example, that nobody really wants the version with the smaller, 20 gigabyte memory, and that the games that work best are the ones that can accommodate a lot of simultaneous online players.

I dont know its hard to say the PS3 will sell 4 million in Europe since its so expensive..But who knows it might surprises all..Hopefully many sony fans was saving up money for the ps3 this past year or months..lol..and the xbox360 sales was 1 percent higher..lol..no wonder reggie said its doin bad in europe..

Ummmm......OK

Nice math they are doing. If the forcast numbers are right, Sony could take over the Wii in sales within a year...IF...the Wii doesnt sell a single console during that time.

And IMO...the PS3 will fail in Europe.

yeah keep living your fanboy dreams that it will fail..lol..

The hard core Sony fans are going to buy a PS3 and there will be an initial 1 week sales surge then all interest is going to drop off the map until...

1.) Price drop of the system. Who knows when this is going to happen, but at 600 a pop you aren't going to see 100 million units sold.
2.) Games man... games. If there were good games, the PS3 would be flying off the shelves everywhere across the globe.

The diehards will get their console and that's that.

Yeah but if they don't sell more, 3rd parties won't see a reason to develop for the PS3, and then they'll never have games.

Funny thing is i live in the UK and everywhere is still not sold out of PS3s for launch, and every whereare guarenteeing one for launch, Argos are even saying to just come in on the day and pick one up, no need for pre order. Sony could make millions, although its selling them thats the hard part, and they wont be following the wii anytime soon, i can assure you.

the reason there are so many is because they are selling the ones that arent selling in north america. theyre right that they wont have shortages, cause theyll be sitting on the shelves as fast as they did here.

Haven't you learned yet. If there are still PS3s on the shelf, Sony's spin machine says it's good because Sony has supplied enough units to meet demand.

That thing has so much positive spin for Sony and negative for Wii and 360 it's funny. It starts with the usual subtle showing that pre-orders haven't sold out by complimenting Sony's shipment lines, and then goes on from there.

The die hards will be able to get the console they need on Friday but until Sony can really show off their console to the masses it's not going to sell that well. Maybe a price drop at Xmas might do the trick but count on Microsoft doing the samething as well.

I bought a Nintendo magazine yesterday from WH Smith's (UK shop) and the person at the counter said 'Would you like to pre-order a PS3?'. Very strange that one.

Talking about Argos, everytime I go there they still don't have any Wii's in stock. No Wii's in stock and the PS3 costs too much. I'm sure that this Easter, Xbox 360 sales will be doing very well even if the others are not.
