This is all very cool technology, but its useless for gaming.

djsifer01

I agree, i see no use for any of this motion crap for myself and the rest of the hardcore gaming crowd.

Do you really consider yourself "hardcore"? You let a marketing term determine what kind of gamer you are? Lol.

Until they actually show something worthwhile they are basically talking out their ass.

heretrix

Same with Microsoft and Natal then.

Absolutely. The only thing is they have showed something. Not only that but the day they announced it, the dev kits went out. That's a bit more than saying "oh, we had that a while ago" don't you think?

Indeed. I'm sure we will see alot more at that 3 hour Sony conference. Also, those videos are showing something.

[QUOTE="DeadMagazines"]Wasn't the PS Eye released over a year ago? Maybe even 2 years ago, don't know, but still..it's funny they haven't mentioned this ever since it launched, but now that MS has Natal they're like "yeah we've had this for a while we just never cared enough to use it" ..lol these guys.. bigblunt537

If you read my post although I wish I had more evidence other then my words the guy who designed the pseye claimed it could do all this stuff since launch. I'm seriously going to see if I can find the magazine. It will be hard because I moved since I last had that magazine and usually I throw magazines out after I finished reading them and after I have owned them for a while.

It really doesn't matter what he said. These guys say things that never come to light all the time. The real question is, "what have you actually done?" And to that the answer is nothing. They had the tech for years and did nothing at all.

Yes I know it could do 'most' of this stuff to an extent, which is why I find it funny that it's been so long for Sony to even speak of it. They have had 0 support for it aside from The Eye of Judgement, and that was released at launch, since then they've practically ignored it and never even spoken of it. Now all the sudden since MS has Natal, Sony is getting all agressive with PS EYE, acting like they've been supporting facial recognition for years when they've put it in the corner to sit like its in trouble. It just amuses me the gall they have.

Yea I see what your saying and compeltely agree. When I first read it I got really excited for the pseye, but obviously they never cared until they saw natal. Sony probably shut down that guys dieas because of financial decisions like they did with many games in development(Getaway, 8days).

heretrix I see what your saying and I completely agree. They should've made something instead of just talking about it.

I look forward to both technologies. I really don't see what people have against motion control. It's completely idiotic to think that MS and Sony are going to approach it the exact same way as Nintendo is doing. It isn't a secret that the so called "core" fanbase detests what Nintendo is doing and I'm sure that they will try and be a lot more balanced in what they do.

Sony and Microsoft's game libraries and systems cater to a more hobbyist type of gamer than to the casual. I'm actually looking forward to Natal's interface capabilities than anything else. As for Sony, I'm interested to see what they will actually do with the wand. Since both technologies will work with existing games anything can happen. It's exciting.

Uh, cool. Sony's said that varioius Eye dev tools were in the hands of developers, including the "wand" tech. I wonder if we'll see more at the GamesCon next month, that would make sense seeing as how its supposed to launch with games next Spring lol.

i'm not reading through this thread. I just want to say that the PSeye is a worthless piece of junk. If microsoft made a PSeye that actually works then they should get all the credit in this tech race.

Maybe americans would buy into a faulty system probably wouldnt care for a horrible idea...........360 is only doing good because of america after that................they're ****......

Face recognition would be cool, but again where's the fun factor in the sony product ?

NATAL can bring back a genre so horrible such as baseball back from the dead if done properlly, while all the eye toy will do is put your face as the main playable character in killzone 2, and still keep the awful old kz gameplay.

Yup, I want gaming motion sensing to die sooner than later.

Is there anything they WON'T say out of desperation? Seriously, now they're just embarassing themselves.
