So far Sony is drafting All Star talent while Microsoft keeps landing the busts.
Bethesda is a solid buy. Starfield could be amazing, and they have a great track record with elder scrolls.

I'd like to believe that, but after Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 turned out to be stinkers I'll take a wait and see approach. They could be turning into another Bioware.
Sony clearly doesn't have Microsoft's budget for acquiring studios lol
Nintendo needs to acquire some studios their damn selves. They're way too used to soaking up money and not putting it back out there.

Honestly at times it feels like nintendo is a studio before they are a console manufacturer and because of that they always attract top talent to their brand...its almost like a tesla/apple factor they got going over there. I said it before, but they would do gangbusters if they went 3rd party.

Whos spinning what? Different companies with different approaches. From that viewpoint alone it's a little dull to claim that it's all the same. Personally as a gamer i whole heartedly dont want to see a company detrimental to my hobby gain more and more control in the industry.
Golf clap for Sony getting them a lil' cute acquisition tho. About the size of compulsion, and smaller than Undead Labs.
I did have a small chuckle checking twitter though. Some people seem anxious for Sony to "hurry up" and finish BluePoint, before Microsoft "swoops in" and snatches them up out from under them. Hurry!! Hurry!! 🤣
For anyone follows the Acquisitions megathread on XboxEra over the past year, this is a laugh. I assure you, the number and pedigree of Studios that Microsoft has been credibly linked to, neither Bluepoint nor Housemarque crack the top 15 list of acquisitions on Microsofts radar.
We're over here having open air speculation about Bungie, Sega, WB Games, Asobo, IO Interactive, Turtle Rock, Avalanche, Crytek, Rocksteady, Netherrealm, Platinum Games, etc.....

They literally bought monolith, Next Level Games and also like Sony nurture talents by setting up independent partner studios to work exclusively on its system.

Anyhow I am excited for Housemarque next project. Housemarque has hinted they are doing something bigger too. Amazing studio Returnal is this year GoTY if all goes well.
Awesome, well deserved. Way better than being acquired by Microsoft and being forced to make Game Pass fodder. Looking forward to their next game! Returnal is one of my favorites, but they've made many great games.

Uh, what? Nintendo buys studios, and they need to buy more. Because the output is dripping instead of pouring. Nintendo was completely blindsided at Switch being a hit and didn't have big content lined up for it in time. "Port the Wii U Library" seemed to be Plan A.

They just bought Next Level Games this year, the studio that made Luigi's Mansion. Not that it mattered anyway because they were literally only making Nintendo games anyway at that point.
@regnaston: If it's an acquisition that takes games off other consoles, then yeah, it's bad. I don't think xbox was ever getting any games from this studio, so no loss there.
Nintendo might need to start buying up some studios soon or they will get no games. Open up the checkbook nintendo.
