Sequels continue on a story. Remakes use the same story with minor tweaks.

I don't think I am confused and if you believe that SMG is a sequel to SM64 then give me a solid timeline of events.

SM64 = Bowser kidnaps Peach, Mario saves Peach, the end (takes place in mushroom kingdom)

SMG = Bowser kidnaps Peach after the events of SM64, Mario saves Peach again, the end (all takes place in space)

IronBass

You see? Sequel :P

Besides, that statement "Remakes use the same story with minor tweaks." is false. Remakes use the same core game, not only the story.

If you had played Mario Galaxy you would know how different it is from SM64.

I own the WII and SMG / N64 and SM64

And no the game never made any mention of having a before or after.

Miyamoto did.

Miyamoto is not in the game. FAIL

MGS4 (10) > SMG (9.5)

I can't do this anymore cause I am apparently ticking off the mod for distrupive posting. I advise you do the same.

Panther501

MGS4 is not first party :|

Selfownage.

But its exclusive and thats all that really matters.

Did you read the thread title? "Sony has better FIRST PARTY then Nintendo this gen (imo). "

We were discussing about first party games. Do you discuss without even knowing about what? :|

Besides, according to Gamerankings, Mario Glaxy: 97%, MGS4: 92%.

Smash Brawl - This is Smash Bros. Melee with more characters, I highly doubt this game took THAT much money/time to make for Wii, it's not like it does monstrous new things. This is a great game, it's fun and that's what everyone wanted from Brawl, it delivered, but it's not a new IP, and it doesn't do something unique like Mario Galaxy, so where is Nintendo's work really going to?

angry_fork

In my opinion Smash Brawl is Smash Melee with more characters and modes, it doesn't upgrade the graphics,

you can just stop right there.

To the guys mentioning DS, I'm only talking about Wii, I should've clarified that sorry.

Also before everyone goes crazy on me, this is my opinion, some people have had more enjoyment out of Nintendo's titles then Sony's, that's fine.

The gist of my argument is that I feel Sony is doing more for gamers with their first and second party titles, they're creating new, interesting IP's and are supporting them fully to become franchises. Sony has done this every generation, while Nintendo barely tries to make something new. I'm not saying they don't, but its far less then Sony.

If Nintendo had made a new Starfox, Donkey Kong, or Pikmin right now, with the same amount of time and effort they did Galaxy, then I might be singing a different tune right now, but they haven't done that. They've slacked off in my opinion. Their last glory days were during N64 where they completely DOMINATED first party, Sony wasn't even close. Nintendo needs to put the same effort they put in GALAXY, in every other first party game they make. There's no way someone can argue that SSBB took the same time/effort as Galaxy, same goes for Mario Kart Wii and the Twilight Princess port. Sony has spent more money, more time, more resources, trying to appeal to their gamers and bring quality AA/AAA NEW games/franchises to their consumers, with promising years to come. Nintendo, in my opinion, has failed in that regard, especially for 2008. First party-wise atleast, this is not the same Nintendo that brought us incredible 3D evolutions of our favorite franchises, Nintendo's first party is no longer king of all. Once again before someone does a backflip out a window, thats my OPINION.

Take it to an exclusive thread then. This is Sony vs Nintendo in 1st Party. Sony doesn't make MGS4. So it is not applicable here.

Just because you put an "my opinion" before or after doesn't make it true ;)

You are in System Wars, not in your blog. You have to back up your statements.

And considering that the first party games of Ninty have had a far better critical reception, it is actually really difficult to back up your statement.

But of course, your opinion is absolutely respectable :)

Agreed. Anybody can pull their opinion out of their ass and slap it on a forum post. So you prefer sony's first party to Ninty's first party. More power to you.....but professional critics as well as the general consensus disagree.

Sony has great 2nd party games, but they really don't even have that many 1st party titles. It's practically all 2nd party...

In my opinion Smash Brawl is Smash Melee with more characters and modes, it doesn't upgrade the graphics, it doesn't upgrade the gameplay. This means it cost the same as a last-gen game, which isn't remotely close to something like Resistance 2.

So far? No way in hell, it's not even close. Sony's best title is Resistance fall of man, Nintendo has about 5 games that are much better

In the future? Possible

Published by Sony =/= a first party game, I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure none of those games except Folklore are first party...bobbetybob

Sony owns Naughty Dog and Evolution Studios so both Uncharted and Motorstorm are first party. Folklore was made by Game Republic so I don't think that game was actually 1st party.
