They're relying on word of mouth which...could work, we'll see.

Better than Sony putting out stupid commercials like that creepy PS3 baby.

I'm guessing the people who care enough already know. Sony's probably thinking "nuts to everyone else".

They have their niche market of sucker cows. That'll hold them over for now.

Not much one can expect when they failed in the marketing for the past 3 systems they released.

i go to school in lubbock, the taco bell promotion boxes were sold out throughout the whole town, you heard me right, they ran out of ps vita 5 dollar boxes in the whole city for a while and then you have the commericals with sackboy and all that, i think people know about it already.

That just struck me too. I was hoping that they were holding back for a Superbowl ad, but they didn't. Unless Vita billbords start sprouting like weeds all over the place a week before it launches then this launch is going to be... bad.

The price for the Vita is not expensive. If you are jobless I guess it would be. The hardcore crowd will eat the Vita up. Leave 3ds for the casuals.

It started with the name, Vita is just a bit far from the well established PSP. PSP2 would actually give the average Joe more interest.

and who in their right mind even wants their product associated with taco bell?

hey gamers! here is a big ol' mouthfull of shyt! now think about our game system!!!!

who's the brainiac that came up with that one?

Riverwolf007

So is Mountain Dew any different?

Face it both Taco Bell and Mountain Dew are associated with the 13-34 year old male demographic. The same demographic that is attracted to Halo and the same demographic that might be interested in the Vita.

It isn't bad marketing at all.

Live in Canada, don't think I've seen an ad for it at all.

my non-gamer friends never even heard of it.

not that it matter how much they market it, this thing is gonna die pretty fast.

I've noticed, like, what's up with that? The taco bell commercial says "because everyone wants a Playstation Vita" but no one even knows what it is it seems like. Sony need to promote this bad boy, EVERYWHERE. They should have had a super bowl commercial, they should have been running ads since the middle of January maybe. Everyone on the planet should know what it is before it launches, then everyone will want it.

Sony dropped the ball here, and I don't know why they thought that would be OK.

The lack of marketing is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the amount of reasons why the Vita will fail.PillyChickle

Yeah. Sony is making a very big mistake on that part. If Vita bombs hard, it will probably cost them dearly.

Actually, like I've already said, they DID advertise the 3DS just fine, the problem was that they failed to differentiate the 3DS from the DS, and it was just seen as a 3D enabled revision of the DS by most. Which sucks, but at least it's better than people not even knowing your product exists.

"It's like a nut you can play with outside"

That's what Sony should have written on their tombstone.

Not that I disagree with their failed marketing, but I must admit, every time I see that sack boy in the taco bell ads, it makes me want the vita more and more, if only it was a launch title.

They should've not have named it vita. They should have named it gordita because the only advertising I hear about vita is in relation to taco bell.
