Sony has finally confirmed a new model for the PlayStation 3.

Sony if you're going to try and copy Apple's idea of releasing new versions of your products at regular intervals, at least make them look good. The new PS3 is butt ugly. That sliding door just looks like it's destined to break or jam.

Honestly other than rabid PS3 fanboys does anyone think that this is a good idea? A redesign of a redesign that's only 3 years old.

What people dont get is the PS3 is basically a next gen system already. The reason they are releasing a slimmer model is because they dont need to do the PS4 for a few years yet.DarthClark

Why not just do a price drop and put efforts toward PS4? I mean, why does the thing need to be any smaller and who the hell needs 500gbs for their console?

Shouldn't Sony be focusing on the PS45 and Vita? Seems silly to be releasing a new modelk for the PS3 this late in the generation, and without even a price cut?

Just watched it. Looks incredibly cheap and that slide mechanism is a bit pathetic. I prefer the older slim.

Oh, brilliant strategy, Sony. Very brilliant. Up the price to $300 just for a 500 GB PS3, the same price tag as the 360 is, & what the first model of the Wii U will be. Oh, & keep the same price tag at $250 for the 250 GB model. Not only that, but the Japanese Yen prices for this thing are nearly at the same price tags as the Wii U models in Japan.
