Poll Sony has PlayStation Experience. Nintendo has Nintendo Direct. Should Microsoft Have Their Own Event? (10 votes)

Yes 90%
No 50%

With Sony's recent announcement that they will be holding the PlayStation Experience annually, it seems that they, too, have now decided that they want to control their messaging, by delivering information directly to consumers, and by spreading it out. It shows they have enough confidence in their output that they can hold multiple events throughout the year.

Nintendo, of course, already does this, with about 5-6 Nintendo Direct broadcasts held every year, which are great for new game reveals, information on how announced upcoming games are coming along, and generally, at delivering the message directly to their customers.

But what about Microsoft? Microsoft does not have its own event yet. They used to, back in the day, X0 (and it was awesome, just like Space World), but they don't hold them any more. Do you think they should? Should they do it Sony's way, with one big event a year, or Nintendo's way, with multiple, relatively smaller webcasts? Or something new entirely? Maybe a combination of both?

The next question is, can they do something like this at all? Microsoft has the smallest and weakest first party- any event by them would be more reliant on third party games, and third parties already reveal games and information at their own schedule, so would they have much new stuff to show at all?

What do you think? Should Microsoft have its own event(s), or is doubling down on E3 wiser?

I'm not talking about the retail stuff like PAL and NTSC. Microsoft region locks Digital Titles on all their platforms.

So does Sony. And Steam. And the worst offender of them all, Nintendo.

I know nothing about that... My suffering is caused by Microsoft and Microsoft only.... They can burn in hell and die !..... Specifically in that order.

I think it would be a positive thing to do. But their Microsoft games studio is probably the smallest out of the three, and Im tired of hearing about the surface pro. Maybe they should do a "nintendo-direct-esque" thing every month or two.

First they need to build a respectable 1st party

Nintendo has one. Sony is trying and every once in a while it really pays off. MS is just like 'lulz we don't care'..

Some lems like to bring up how stacked MS is, why don't we see that in their stable of games? I don't expect them to just put in the money and receive hit after hit, but at least do like Sony, throw enough at the wall and something will stick.

/minirant

But yeah, they need a stable of things to show before they can have an Xbox centric showing.

I feel Microsoft should have some proper first party studios of their own before they go on doing a conference like that.

No need, you can easily have your own Xbox Experience right now by drinking a bottle of bleach then rolling around in dogshit.

I'd like to see more than 1 event per year though.

I would say yes.....but what games would they show? MS only has Halo/Gears/Forza. Seems really pointless to show those games again after showing them at E3. At least with Sony, they would actually show new games.

Agreed, we joke around here but there are many already announced games I want to see more of plus it's always exiting to see / hear about formally unannounced games... bring'em on for all the systems I say. :)
