this vid is from May 2006,  but it shows that at least MS puts effort into doing something similar to their competition without completely ripping off the EXACT same thing...

At the end of the day if sony did copy then all they did was take the good pionts and put them into ps3 which will benefit the consumer, you see this as a bad thing:?

I don't know what bubble I may be popping, but Micro$oft happens to be the ultimate copycat... Windows? Yeah, that wasn't Bill's idea...

everything is copied from something or another, the ps3 is a copy from the ps2 similar controller sequels from other games, 360 on the other hand is totally new and innovative and....wait

wouldn't really call any of that copying. When something becomes an industry standard, that's what it is, an industry standard. Sony on the other with thier copying of Mii's and acheivement points(so to speak) is a blaitant rip off of other companies ideas.

If you think that improving on the features of your competitors and providing them to your own userbase is a bad thing then you are an idiot. /thread

Sony is a pretty innovative company, but they're not very good at implimenting their technology for various reasons... VHS was by far the inferior media...

A little harsh, but the point is good. Everybody copies everyone else to an extent. It would be hard for the industry to improve if people said "I don't wanna do it if (Insert company here) already did it." imagine if only one console had online service, and another was the only one with analog. That would suck. I wouldn't know what one to get.

I could say PSN was just a copy of the unified online serivce that Xbox live provided, or that The PS controllers triangle, X, square, O button scheme was copied from Nintnedo's X,Y,A,B scheme on the SNES,(sorry if it seem like I'm picking on Sony, but those were the first two examples to come to mimd.) but it's not. it's just taking a good idea and appling it to your own ideas.

I don't see how sony copied the "HDD idea". it was an option on the PS2. the Xbox it came standard a year later aka improved on sony's idea. this time the PS3 has it standard the the 360 it is an option. isn't it safe to say that Sony copied MS making it standard and MS copied Sony making it not? now i ask you, which is moving forwards and which is moving backwards?

Umm everything Microsoft and Sony has done was stolen from Nintendo essentially. Saying that Xna is original is stupid because its just a ripoff of Sony's webcam for the PS2 which detects movement. Originally Nintendo did a project with a camera similar to the PS2's, however it was only a prototype that was displayed at their boot at E3. However it was never put into production and Sony saw the idea and decided to release their own camera, I dont think its necessarily copying since Nintendo never put the unit into production, but they did create it. There isnt a lot of information on it, however I recall that there were a few documents floating around the internet.
