[QUOTE="SergeantSnitch"]When it comes to games, Sony is in trouble. Matter of fact, when it comes to the PS3 as a whole, Sony is in real big trouble period.
It's no secret Sony lost sight of what really mattered, the actual games when it comes to a gaming machine. I saw signs of this towards the end of PS2 days, when Sony would refer to the PS2 as a "computer."
Let's break things down just a quick bit:
1) The PS3 currently holds the lowest install base of any next-gen system
2) The PS3 costs the most to develop games for because of complicated and unorthodox hardware
3) The development cycle for a game on the PS3 is the longest because of limited knowledge from devs about Cell/RSX
4) On the software side of things, not only does the PS3 have the least amount of games, it also has the lowest software sales as well. PS3 owners aren't buying enough games.
5) Almost every game on the PS3 has been delayed at some point or another. Its must-own games such as GTAIV, GT5, Socom, MGS4, God of War 3, DMC4, Silent Hill, Ratchet & Clank, UT3, all have seen delays. What's funny is that other features excluding games are also getting delayed. HOME? ¿Donde esta home?
6) PS3 is constantly losing exclusives left and right to other consoles. What do GTAIV, DMC4, Silent Hill, UT3, Alan Wake, Ace Combat 6, Assassin's Creed, Beautiful Katamari, MONSTER HUNTER 3, and a handful of others titles have in common? Oh yea, that's right, lost exclusivity. What makes it worse is that some these games are also being CANNED altogether on the PS3 and are completely gone.
7) Multiplats are generally worse than the 360, a system that is cheaper to begin with.
8 ) Multiplats also release much later on the PS3 because of difficulty porting the game and budget constraints.
9) While PSN is showing improvement, it cannot hold a light to XBOX LIVE. Looks like PS3 owners have to wait till next year for Home as well.
10) The ridiculous amounts of price changes and new SKU's are sure to confuse the HELL out of consumers. The more I think about it, it seems as if Sony intentionally did this to fool consumers. If I'm having a hard time distinguishing between the 20Gb, 40Gb, 60Gb, and 80Gb iterations, imagine what a soccer mom is going to go through this holiday season? I think people will be buying the 40Gb version thinking it has PS2 BC.
11) Sony's decision to include Blu-Ray in the PS3 as standard is one of the riskest moves they could have ever pulled. Part of the reason why I think the PSP has faultered is the whole UMD issue. Didn't Sony learn from BetaMax, UMD, and MiniDisc? Blu-Ray and HD-DVD aren't catching on because there isn't a big enough difference to justify the added cost. VHS to DVD was truly a revolution, not DVD to Blu-Ray.12) And most importantly....3rd party developers are abandoning the PS3 left and right. Can someone make a list of new games that have been announced for the PS3 from 3rd party developers in the last 5-6 months that were previously not worked on prior to the release of the PS3? The only games the PS3 has to look forward to are the games that have been in developement prior to the launch of the PS3 and now 3rd party devs are panicing because of how much they've spent so far, fearing about low sales. Capcom has abandoned Sony, Ubiosoft isn't too happy...
So what exactly does Sony have that will appeal to devs? Blu-Ray with its big storage capacity?Wake up cows. The PS3 has potential but right now it's truly swirling down the drain. I honestly can't see any source of salvation for the PS3. Sorry for the long read, I had to get all my points in.
With that all said, I'm still willing to buy a PS3 if that one damn must-own game ever releases for it. I'm no fanboy, I like games. Right now, PS3 has completely dissapointed in that department.

In other words Sony SUCKS.
I'm still gonna have to play MGS4 on the PS3
But afterwards I hope they burn in hell.
