Sony has more exlusives than xbox and almost as much as Nintendo, the PS3 plays all the multiplats and Sony put in Blu Ray which ended up winning the HD format war, something that MS and Nintendo regret thus that's why they are getting it in their next system. And they have a good free online service, yea same bag of tricks huh :roll:

How so TC? Im primarily a PC gamer, but I never underestimate, nor take the skills and abilities of other platforms lightly.

Sony did bring us just about the most alien technology weve see nt his gen. It cost them dearly, but for what they did, they have to be respected.

It helps that they have made this gens best "core" exclusives of any console.

It is not that they are a tired old man, but rather the world changes quickly, and what we begin to see, is the limits of closed platforms.

I have no doubt that Sony will Put up something interresting again next gen, them and Nintendo seems to be the best bets at this point. (As far sa consoles are conscerned) I would hate to see it die out, or crash.

That said, I do think handhelds are on thier way out (or rather to be integrated in mobiles, so not as much dying as morphing).

MS is pretty much just piggybagging off the PC as a whole ,and while a fine console, it is NOT beneficial to just copy PC when you are sub par nomatter how you look at it.

When all is said and done, what we need is more diversity, NOT more streamlinig, and MS have proven time and time again, that they certainly ain't up for that task. Not on PC, Nor console. They are playing it safe, which is fine and well, aslong as someone else is pushing limits, and of all platforms, the 360 seems to push the least overall limits, while restricting players. That is a future that is the worst case scenario for all gamers.

I don't care if Sony's 1st and 2nd party games doesn't appeal to the majority of gamers. That has absolutely no bearing as to how I (and probably most PS3 owners) personally enjoy video games. I'm willing to invest on an exclusive Sony game, if the game interests me, regardless of sales or a critic's review. That's almost like arguing with a blithering idiot sales & hype obssessed Hip-Hopper. I love Rock music in various forms, and suddenly he goes, "yo son, Rock iz dead, nah meen? Dat's sheet iz whack, nobody iz listening to Rock, nah mean?" Yet Rock is very very much alive even without the B.S. Billboard, VMA, MTV, Vevo hype and mainstream appeal.

As for the last part, multiplat 3rd party games is pretty much what the 360 only has these days. Not that it's a bad thing. But it clearly shows where MS is heading, also not a bad thing.

PS1 and PS2 were really aimed at Gaming Casuals, those that know some trend in gaming and have actually held a controller. For example Madden and NHL players. Also the DVD player in the PS2 played a key role. The Wii install base is massive more so than PS1 & PS2 because the main target market are NON-GAMING casuals. People who have never ever hold a controller in thier lives and don't keep up with gaming trends. Also, because of PS1's success with 3rd party developers, this was carried over with the PS2. And gamers relate 3rd party games with PS brand.

Right now, there's 3rd party developers that are showing a lot of love to Wii U, & you can bet that it'll have tons of 3rd party games.

That's yet to be seen. And very unlikely. Not when there are 2 major consoles targeting that same core market. Nintendo still has that "nobody plays 3rd party games on Nintendo console" stigma. If they couldn't redeem themselves with GC or Wii, what makes you think they'll redeem 3rd party games with WiiU? Another factor is Nintendo's family image and their Q/A method in screening games that goes on thier system. Believe it or not, unlike Sony or MS, who give developers the "freedom" to do whatever the hell on thier games, Nintendo higher ups still have the say so on what certain games goes on thier system. Even when the ESRB rating systems being in place for 17 years. If you were old enough to remember, this method has been practice by Nintendo since the NES days. Another factor is Nintendo would need to prove to developers thier tablet controller is convincing enough to develop unique games for. We've seen this with Wii remote, and look what happend. LoZSS and very few games built successfully around the Wii remote were made. By this time, the Wii remote should have set some practical standard on how games should be played. But it didn't. At the end, what we know for sure is that Motion Sensing does have some limits and works very well on some specific genres.
