Sony is skipping E3 for the third year in a row.

Oh well that is so anticlimactic. it looks like MS will own this gen. Sony has been so helpful in surrendering its market share to MS this year:

1. Awful launch / stock numbers

2. Poor service

3. PS5 OS bugs

4. Small storage

5. Avoiding E3 / no big exclusive announcements

I'd rather Sony not create false hype if they have nothing to show at the moment.

I also think it's clearly not great to roll into E3 with nothing to show at all...

I guess, but it's not the same viewership numbers than during E3, when everyone is paying attention. After so depressive and dry 2020, one would expect some sort of glorious come back in 2021, but nah...

Yeah, this is pretty old news by now. Unfortunate because I love all the pomp and circumstance of the big E3 shows.

Nobody cares about E3 in 2021.

returnal is a solid indie roguelite, but we have a tons of those on PC, man:

1. Hades

2. Risk of Rain

3. Void Bastards

4. Everspace.

Just from the top of my head.

They all look pretty solid, but nothing new. 😜

It's interesting that Sony's been announcing, showing off, and releasing games since launch but still manages to take flak.

Rumor has it that they're planning a late June event but grains of salt and what not.

We don't have AAA Roguelite Hades is a 2d animated game risk of rain looks like an indie and void bastards looks like a cheap indie and everspace isn't anything like returnal its a space game.

Whenever I see a thread saying Sony is skipping E3, this should be common sense by now to most gamers and Sony isn't interest attending E3 at all. Like this isn't new to anyone.

E3 has been out the door for a while honestly, or at least the old physical format convention that E3 was. Even before a pandemic tbh. Way too expensive before to get stage presentation, even floor space was expensive, which is why you saw Sony drop out. (and they weren't the first either) Now that it's online, maybe E3 will slowly begin mattering again...depends on how it's managed from here on out.

Well, i understand for not attending a physical E3, but why to skip a virtual one now:

They get much better results engaging in direct behind the scene flattery of industry representatives by inviting them to preview and review boot camps.

Sony is in a league of its own. They have dominated E3 in the past.

Likely because there's more to attending E3 than just showing up.

It's pretty clear Sony is skipping E3 because it doesn't want to address their elephant in the room.

What I find astounding is the Sony Fanboys who keep defending them when their beloved company oversaw the worst console launch of all time and their spectacular incompetence in getting units to their customers.

Sony, just like Rockstar, don't need help from E3's publicity. Sad part is, if there was no E3, even lems would forget the Series X and S are out. This is the hard hitting truth that would trigger every lemming that reads this message.

I understand that not getting a PS5 still can be frustrating but don't worry, you'll eventually find one.

I've not seen any new ones to buy on shelves since launch. I saw one used one for $700 at a second hand game store.

We had a thread last week and it was not to difficult to purchase a PS5. The catch was that it was in a bundle with the cheapest bundle being ~$700. At least you got a new system with other "stuff".
