Sony's next-generation console isn't due to launch anytime this year, but the tech giant has been surprisingly generous with details. During a corporate strategy presentation, the company has listed all the information it has revealed so far, confirming yet again that the PS5 will have backwards compatibility. Since it has a similar architecture to the PS4, it will be able to play games designed for the current-gen console and will also be compatible with the current version of PlayStation VR.

Sony intends to make PS5 owners consider streaming as an option if they haven't yet, though.

Why would PS5 gamers stream, stream what? Pointless buying one otherwise.

Sony doesn't really believe in streaming, it's MS's and amazon's bag but they are doing it, *just in case* it becomes a something big.

Just look at their wording. They are like, "Hey, if you're into not owning your games and want to pay to play anytime you're ready to get into a game, we'll offer it that BS too!"

It's just an OPTION for Sony as it stand. for MS it's their whole game plan.

This is the main reason why Sony will allow MS to host their streaming for next gen because they can just pull out if it doesn't look like it's worth it and they will not have lost anything investing all of those resources onto a scheme that ultimately didn't bear fruit.

1) PSNow will eventually get PS5 games. They have been working on it with Amazon and now MS for a while now.

2) They likely won't get PS5 games at launch just like originally PSNow only had PS3 games at launch. PS5 games on PSNow shouldn't be expected until closer to mid-gen.

3) Yes, because I primarily use PSNow like gamepass right now. Where I download games to my PS4 to play. Further you can remote play any of those downloaded games which is exactly what I do. I also remote play PS2 classics. If PS5 allows you to download and play PS3 games and use remote play, there is a gigantic backlog of content in PSNow to play in addition to PS4 games and it becomes a gamepass experience for users, possibly ranging all of the generations of PlayStation.

@Pedro: Ever heard of PlayStation Now? PlayStation 4 has had it for years before Game Pass. And the PS4 does not have BC, but the PS2 and PS3 had it. It’s not new to the PlayStation brand. Some people don’t care about BC, but I rather have it than not.

Fortnite being played the amount it’s being played...Rocket League....LoL....Dota 2....Division....Destiny etc etc....lots of those people actually bought God of War and have not 1 trophy.

My friend and I checked some peoples games to see who I was playing Apex with...so many have some big AAA single player games and don’t look like they’ve even touched them.

Wasn’t as big of a problem when all you had on console were Red Dead and COD.

Too many people have a PS4 that have a backlog and don’t have other systems.
