True, but this is now going too far. I won't be surprised if Sony's email gets hacked again and reveals that Sony gains a huge sum of the Kickstarter money while the developer only gets a smaller cut for funds.

Yes Sony does have money but they might not be willing to risk that money on unproven genres/franchise, crowdfunding can get risky games into gamer's hands..

This isn't a "small dev/big dev" issue. This is actually a really good idea. It gives them better cause to invest in a given project if they know prior to development if people will back it. Odds are if an initial project receives enough support, sequels that comes later will be completely Sony-funded.

Just because you're a big dev, that doesn't mean you don't want to insure profits.

We don't know anything about the game, for alle we know the scope and content of the game could fit that of a thirty dollar game.

Not trying to flame or anything. I'm just saying with pledging money on Kickstarter you can't know what you will end up with and if it'll be a worthwhile full priced game in the end.
