Nintendo's E3 was disappointing for hardcore Nintendo fans who wanted to see the new Zelda announcement in motion but lets focus on the real issue here.

SONY lost FINAL FANTASY XIII's Exclusivity

!

you can't be serious.

In my not at all humble opinion this makes this E3 the WORST E3 this generation for Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe and America. Even that laughable Ridge Racer gif fails to topple this horrendous news. So the joke here is that they lost FFXIII and they lost E3. Too bad for them but sure Cows will get over it they always do.

Besides at least Wii owners got to see that sweet gameplay trailer for Mad World.

edit: This is System Wars. Playstation 3 lost a major exclusive. Denial in playing it down will not work for you in the long run. heehee.

FFXIII was a pretty big deal...sucks for Sony

Nintendo's conference was way worse then losing FFXIII though.

No, sorry. having watched every conference, Nintendo's was so bad, I almost cried.

Ninty kicked every hardcore gamer square in the nuts. FFXIII does not trump that.

Lost exclusivity to a game that was important in principle but due to the market scheme doesnt actually make a huge blip. Its exclusive in Japan, and if gta4 is any indication multiplats didnt really effect the console war.

Buy it anyway? It'll be like seeing a movie you know you're going to hate just so you have something to say about it when it comes up in conversation, only the movie cost $60.

Final Fantasy are what made the last two Playstation consoles for many many gamers. Sony losing a major exclusive is going to hurt.

And before FFVII, Nintendo had FINAL FANTASY, and they lost it COMPLETLEY (not multi-plat) but completley, what's your point?

SE made a smart business choice, the MS moneyhat helped big time, and this way they'll expand the fanbase. If I were in SE's position I would have done the same thing, unless Sony threw some $ my wa.y.

It was a big loss for Sony, but the way people have been overeacting is bigger. It was only a wise buisness move to make Final Fantasy 13 available for the Xbox 360 in NA, what with alot of gamers in NA being big Final Fantasy fans and the Xbox 360 install base there being considerably higher than that on the PS3. The fact of the matter is, PS3 owners will still get to play it and thats all that should matter for them, if it bothers them loosing this as an exclusive then they should take a trip to the fanboy rehabilitation clinic.

IIRC Nintendo loosing Final Fantasy 7 to Playstation instead of it being on N64 was pretty bad news for them.

One would assume that if they are going to buy either system solely for that one game they would compare both and see which one has more to offer that they like. And that could go either way, because when you're talking about hardcore gamers price isn't always the most important factor.

Last night I expressed my disappointment on how Sony had let their gamers/customers down by letting this happen, people who have based their decision on whether or not to get a PS3/360. In the end, though everyone wins, it is a rather bitter pill to swallow, because Sony really didn't do anything to counter that.

What Sony showed off was common knowledge. Nothing surprising came out, and I know people will point to MAG but, that just isn't enough. Also it to me shows off a rather disturbing trend, the over emphasis on online. Don't get me wrong, I love online, but the fact of the matter is that, you need a good single player experience.

In the end, I believe Sony knew this was going to happen, and perhaps the same situation with Metal Gear Solid 4 was rearing it's head, only being able to afford one, they chose the one that they felt best represented their brand, and their gaming ideals.

With Sony losing so many games to 360 you would of thought they would threw some money SE way to keep a big exclusive like that.

I agree with this. I was looking for a reason to get a PS3...god of war III is the reason as of now. I was peeved that they just showed less than a 5 min. cg of the game. IDK....then with the MAG news...they just showed CG and then threw a number out there....200 plus people online. Oooookay. anyway. I agree with your post.

I agree that games should be for fun. But you have to keep in mind the price man. We can't all afford every system and some games are exclusive to the systems which i'm shure you well know. The only thing sony needs to be worried about is a landslide effect. If this is the only game they lose for the next 'x' amount of years. they are in good shape.

Zelda is the only thing nintendo has going for them. I've got a friend who still plays the n64 zelda games because they are so involved to COMPLETELY beat them. But if nintendo doesn't step it back up, I fear even zelda will go by the waste side.

It's true, Sony lost an exclusive deal.

But it was to be expected. In the end cycle of the ps2 they already said they weren't interested in securing third party exclusives.

I guess they had an intensive marketing study that told them that in the end they aren't profitable and from the looks of gta4 they were right. Don't forget Sony isn't some rertarded backwater company, everything they do and let happen is carefully considered and risk assesment is done.

I still think Sony had the best key-note from a gamers perspective. They showed the most games (but not many I'm really interested in), and brought the boring stuf in an innovative way...

when the ps3 version is getting localized for na and europe they will make the x360 version. in NA and europe SE said the 360 version will ship same day as ps3 version even if that means they have to push the ps3 date back. remember there in agreement with ms.

I think Sony's E3 conference was the best. At least they did this E3 about the Software rather than hardware. Not to shabby software at that, the showing of MAG and that level design on LBP was pretty cool(and it got more laughs than the entire Nint. conference) MS's conference was just the announcement of FFXIII on 360 which i mean is big but i mean thats not going to carry you to victory. Nintendo conference was just plain lame. I get it your trying to appeal to your casuals but it was painful watching you trying to be comical about it.

[QUOTE="Couth_"]FFXIII is a timed exclusive by atleast a year, and FFXIII versus is still exclusive. FFXIII Versus will probably be on time with FFXIII for the 360. That sounds like a win for everyoneFF6fan

To bad they already stated that FFXIII will release simultaneously on both consoles.

Did we watch the same program???? lol..Sony almost completely focused on hardware! They talked about the PS2 more than the PS3. Sounded like a cry for attention to me.

News is now coming out that the E3 press conference didn't tell the whole story. Apparently FFXIII 360 won't even begin development until the PS3 version is done. it looks like a UT3 situation

I don't get this...They still have FFXIII. Not like they lost anything here.

Just more gamers are allowed to play it now without another wall.
