Sony: Microsoft Is Not A Genuine Opponent For Us

"Sony celebrates the start of its new console in Berlin on a large party. There Uwe Bassendowski, managing director Sony computer Entertainment GmbH talked about the PS3 and their competitor Microsoft: "The time of the bad messages is finally past. From now on it will give only good message for us. "... "it will not empty go out a prospective customer."
Concerning ms he said: "Microsoft is not a genuine opponent for us." Ms came last year in the market for consoles including the mobile devices only on a market share of 7,1 per cent, Sony holds 40 per cent. However ms has also no mobile console in the offer."

You have to ask yourself, are these companies just spinning PR wank or do they all actually consider themselves the sole firm in their industries?

What are you talking about? you act like PS3 have no games..Last i heard DMC4 is still coming to the PS3.and there plenty of exclusive comin out...and half of the  ps3 games lemmings wants for the 360..dont tell me all that ps3 have no great games when your dying for our games..lol...

Wow what a joke...coming from a Sony rep big freaking deal lol I'm sure there are a million quotes from many different kinds of people we can find to mock the PS3 but who cares. and this coming from Sony is supposed to be good, they already showed they don't know what they are doing with poor sales and worldwide bashing of the PS3 so any comments like coming from them pretty much mean nothing.

I mean didn't Meryl Lynch predict Sony wouldn't win this war? Not saying that's true but they do that kind of a thing for a living so that means more then what a Sony rep would say

whats ironic is that sony's still the most likely to get pushed outta the games market.Big_T-Mac

That is true, Sony did not even want to get into the game market and it was only because Nintendo shafted them years ago that they got into the market to begin with. I think there are still some Sony executives who would not think twice about pulling out of the console market if it stopped making money.

From the dozens of interviews I've read from Sony Executives (the EGM Jack Tretton interview and the recent GDC interviews with Dr Evil - Phil Harrison - are the most recent ones that come to mind), I have NEVER seen Sony acknowledge Microsoft as a true competitor.  WTF?  Why do they always do this?  Is it out of arrogance or ignorance?  Is it to diss Microsoft?  I just can't figure it out. 

I swear, they must feel that if they acknowledge the 360 and Microsoft, then it is like sacriledge or something like that.  Anyone with half a brain can see that the 360 and the Wii are true competitors to the PS3, but Sony must feel that if they don't talk about either of them, then they don't exist.
