Really speaking all of them but EA only really has one FPS franchise that they release often. Capcom doesn't even have one as far as I recall, unless there is one and it's escaping me and ubisoft has quite a bit of time between each one.
Resistance 1 and 2 were pretty good actually, overall I think the series is good. Resistance 3 was where they dropped the ball, they should just go back to Resistance 1 style, which IMO was amazing, it had these massive 40 player matches and really unique guns to use. It played similar to Halo somewhat but it was better.ShadowMoses900

I like the Resistance Series... Played all of them including the PSP title...
Resistance 1 - Very Good sp campaign + Good mp
Resistance 2 - Average sp campaign + Awesome mp
Resistance 3 - Great sp campaign + Great mp
I wouldnt mind is Sony/Insomnia would release Resistance 4 maybe for PS4.. if they take the best things the previous titles offered and add a couple of new ideas I'm sure it would turn out into one great fps title...
I liked the games but can't say they were anything special though. And yeah I'd rather see them invest in a new IP. Still planning to pick up the 3rd one some day though.
Stop with Resistance and either stop stop with Killzone or let us see it from the Helghast perspective (PS4 title?). Sony's FPS games really aren't that strong, they have other genres they are much stronger at.

Ubisoft's are quite different from the general trend and I don't know any Capcom FPs games.
Sony has a lot of exclusive that people simply don't care about. Every year its top selling games are 3rd partie games yet they keep making exclusives that don't sell well and end up in the bargain bin faster than you can say crap.

I'm talking about multiplatform games on the PS3 you idiot. People who purchase a PS3 almost always purchase 3rd party games instead of Sony's generic 1st party games. You need proof? Look at the PS3 top selling games from 2006-2011, dominated by 3rd party games. By now Sony should realize by now that no one wants to purchase their generic garbage they call games such as resistance, infamous, MAG, god of war, uncharted etc..
After reading through this thread, I can safely say that some of you guys has very bad taste in games.
Resistance is a good franchise that deserves to be played. R:FoM has the best online multiplayer the world has ever seen, and the 3rd one has a really decent single player campaign. The 2nd one is a hybrid of both. They all are great games.

idk many average nintendo franchises, most of them score really well and sell really well. i mean i i thought nintendo didnt have many franchises thats what SW believe right?

this is the problem, they dont need no more ips at all, they need to stick with the ones that actually make them money and switch em up a bit.

Insomniac basically killed this franchise and not because they're done with it. Fall of Man was great. R2 gameplay wise was too different from R1 and was copy of other shooters at the time which turned people away from it. The story was pretty good too. Now resistance 3 returned to back to the gameplay of fall of man which many people wanted back. The story was pretty good except too, but I do have a problem with it that is not about the ending (Was wtf bad also imo). The problem I had is that the game was a straight up side story about Capelli. Many of the questions people had from R2 did not get answered and I think this should not have been called R3 instead it should have had a sub-title.
As for why it didn't get much sales? People think it was because Sony didn't advertise enough, but I don't think that is true. I saw ads for it every time I watched ESPN and when I was on Twitch.tv. The reason I think it didn't get much sales was ultimately the multiplayer beta which was horrible. We all know people really just use beta's as a demo and since there were framerate problems, lag, and even freezing people quickly wrote it off without buying the full game when it released.

Resistance was good but not great, so i think it's a good thing they stop at 3. The series really don't need any more games and they should move on to make something new.
It played similar to Halo somewhat but it was better.

Lol. Anyway.... i can't say i blame them. They put a big marketing push into Resistance but it never really blew up the way they wanted it to. It was a decent game, but after the first one i can't say i was blown away or eagerly anticipating two sequels.
It was a good franchise. Good franchises don't get milked to death, though - they meet their end at the completion of a trilogy or w/e their intended run was.

Resistance 1 was DECENT. It did nothing unique, but at the time the FPS craze was still in its infancy so people appreciated a generic, but solid built game.
Resistance 2 was awful. Horrible AI, ridcilously generic SP and the MP felt dated when it released.
As far as I am concerned, I can't bring myself to care much. The series is the very definition of generic mediocrity, so in my opinion, Sony will be doing a good thing if they stop investing in it and redirect resources towards something else, a fresh new IP perhaps, or the revival of something like Parappa or Jak.
We'll see, though.

They need to fix the infuriating checkpoint system. Too many times I've been sent back 10-15 minutes worth of slow, methodical progress because I faced a more difficult enemy with no health. If you're gonna take out regenerating health, either allow manual saves or have more frequent auto saves.
RFOM was fun with coop and had a nice MP,needed moar colour.It was generic,but had some pretty cool weapons... R2 for me was awesome. My first online game,my first plat,christmas present...and i was never a shooter fanatic. RR was a fun game aswell,quite polished R3 from the videos looked disappointing,the news about CoOp from R2 being scrapped and huge battles also being scrapped killed it. Never bothered getting it.

I can't remember, what is the co-op like in Resistance 3? I know Fall of Man has campaign co-op and Resistance 2 has separate missions for co-op. Does Resistance 3 have campaign co-op for the main campaign like Fall of Man had?
