seems Sony doasnt care anymore about competition all they care about now is making profit to get out of this generation safely , well its normal everyone flops once or twice flopping isnt bad but giving up and not trying again is bad.

I guess I won't be buying a PS3 for a while longer. I as the consumer decide its value and I am not willing to fork over any money at that price. Many others seemingly aren't willing to either.

Oh, and before people tell me to get a job - I have more than enough money. I am simply not a tool. ;)

Do you pay for XBL?

[QUOTE="Nonstop-Madness"][QUOTE="Ilikemyname420"] Honestly I fail to see how anyone can actually believe that a slimmer PS3 would cost them LESS money.....it doesn't make a lick of sense.....are they supposed to be saving money on plastic/packaging or something??Ilikemyname420

Smaller CPU and GPU cost less money to make. Smaller CPU and GPU would mean smaller power supply, heatsink and less material for casing = cost less, a smaller Blu Ray drive would cost less to make also.

If they say go from a 90mm to a 65nm chip they can save money over the very long term, however slimming down the console would increase R&D, manufacturing, and test costs, not to mention take up a capital investment exponentially larger than what it took to for the fabricators of the original console.....so assuming it would be cheaper out the gate just doesn't make sense.... it would end up costing them more money to do that than what it cost them to develop the original PS3 and everything in it.

It doesn't cost millions of dollars to build a smaller case. They only need a smaller board. They were going to have to get a smaller board for the smaller GPU anyway.

I don't get why people who post here complain about the PS3's price when they probably paid the same/more for their 360.

STRETCH-E

I'd drop $400 on the PS3 in a heartbeat if I felt like I could get $400 of enjoyment out of it. But there's not really any game on the PS3 that I feel is worthy of a purchase atm. Resistance was alright, Uncharted was amazing(can't wait for the 2nd one), no intrest in KZ2, couldn't get into MGS4(played to much like 3 and I hated 3), LBP looks meh and InFamous looks good. So 2 games right now won't cut it for me at that price. And I know I could get multiplat games for it but I like the 360 controller better. But if Sony does a couple more price drops...

there is so little chance of a price drop in the next few months its ridiculous. they would lose even more money, wakey wakey cows. even when they do eventually drop the price, it doesn't mean millions of non-gamers wil suddenly start to buy PS3's. i may be a lemming, but why would i need a ps3 when i predominantly play games rather than watch movies. better multiplats, Exclusives that appeal more to me than PS3's. its a no brainer.sts106mat

Wait, what? :o

Why don't you buy the new bundle. It cost 400 USD so its like buy a 300 USD PS3 with 2 games added in for an extra 100USD. Unless of course you are a lemming and are just trolling?

I am not trolling since I did not mean to antagonize anyone. I was simply stating the truth and preemptively stated that I have enough money before people tell me to get a job so I can afford a PS3. I have been looking into buying a PS3 for a while now but cannot justify the price. In addition, I am not particularly interested in MGS4. The deciding factor, however, is that that deal seems to be exclusive to the US.

Yeah, most people don't realize that. Most times people don't buy something; not becasue they can't afford it, but rather they can't justify paying the price.

a lemming isn't defined by if you wil or won't buy a ps3 at it's current retail price:roll:

The same can be said about 360.

PS3 at this point in the 'gaming cycle' should be priced near the $200 dollar mark for the lowest model, MAX. I want to see what will happen when the 360 elite gets a $100 price drop and the premium version goes on firesale (since its being discontinued)...
