While its nice in principal,
It means nothing to me as a gamer, while I respect Sony for its support of the PSone and PS2 I think back and ask myself how many PSone games did I buy after I got a PS2? How many PS2 games did I buy after I bought the PS3?
When Microsoft or Nintendo or whomever releases the next generation of consoles while it may be interesting to the masses that PS3 games are still coming out, the reality is how many of us on System Wars will care? When was the last time we praised a PS2 game? or even discussed it in a context that doesn't involve "The Wii version looks worse then the PS2 version"
Ten year support is nice, but what is considered support? PSone support pretty well meant a new Madden every year till 2005, Since I am not a Madden fan I couldn't have cared less. Next to no new IP's for the console simply playing to those "Madden Masses" and this is what support is?
PS2 is still being "supported" while GOW II was a nice tastey treat more then a year ago, whats next? I see that Madden 2008 is on PS2 and on Xbox, but in terms of something exclusive to the console they seem to simply be piggybacking off the same shovelware that PSfolk knock the Wii for.
While I have no doubt there are some gamers who don't have any next gen consoles right now, I greatly doubt they are the majority on System Wars.
I am firmly of the belief that the first four to five years of a consoles life are the years that matters,
How much did you care about your PSone in 2004? Still your primary console as the Halo 2's, Metroid Prime 2's, GTA:SA's and Half Life 2's were hitting the marketplace? Because techincally Sony was still supporting the console.
