Sony opens support for Remote Play on Android.

Starting with the upcoming update android users on version 5+ will be able to use remote play in their phones.

I guess this means playtime is over for Sony and they are getting serious about console streaming.

Who in the world would remote plays on a small screen Android? If I were Sony, I would invest something else then this.

Damn, that's awesome. I got an Android tablet for just such a thing. About time they finally got the ball rolling on that.

Oh no, PS anywhere. Someone once told me that being able to play games where you want and when you want it bad for gamers.

There's plenty of Android phones with screens upwards of 6 inches. And Sony already had remote play on android, but just restricted it to Xperia line phones (i think people got around this by altering the apk)

I'm all in for another Sony handheld system despite Vita was lackluster of support. Sony just needs a bigger supporter and were good for another handheld system.

No it's not. Straight from the article:

"Remote Play will now let you stream games from your console to any Android device running version 5.0 or above. This has actually been a feature on certain Android phones since 2014, but only ones made by Sony — now there’ll just be a Remote Play app in the Play store for anyone to download. Sony added iOS compatibility earlier this year, so the expansion of Android support always seemed likely."

I think this is a great idea. I like the idea of playing games in bed or on my couch while I have a show in the background or whatever. I play my Switch undocked a lot.

Who would say such a thing?

If touch screen controls weren't absolute crap, it would be something to look into. As it is, touch screen is not meant for traditional gaming. Thumbs slide off the "analog stick" or d-pad because obviously there's nothing there but glass.

Its portable enough to fit in a backpack or purse.

This is exactly what happened. I use a version of the remote play app both on android and iOS that removes the Wifi limitation so I can play using my phones unlimited data.
