[QUOTE="InfamousC"][QUOTE="SkyCastleDan"]I don't think retailers are going to appreciate this....that's a lot of space those big black boxes are going to take up while they're not sellig....DXGreat1_HGL
ok dude. sony is just preparing for the onslaught that consumers will be doing this holiday season when all the great games come this year. ps2 is well stocked on store shelves i see no reason why they shouldnt do the same for ps3.
Maybe because they aren't selling? The videogame cases where I work have had the same 4 PS3's sitting there for almost 3 months now.
ok i am going to take a very notorious 360 fan's word for it. ps3 is selling extremely well for a $600 console with very few killer apps and things will only pick up in the coming months.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Why should anyone in SW, GS or the internet beleive the man that spends most of his free time either digging up negative 360 stories or positive PS3 stories and constantly trolling this forum acting like BOTH are the most reliable pieces of info on the planet? Sorry to break it to you, but the PS3 ISN'T SELLING AS GOOD AS YOU WISH IT TOO and all of your pointless rants and wishful speculation won't make it.
If I were a bona fide cow, I would beg you to quit while you are so far behind, but the rest of the people that post in here appreciatte your comedic banter....

Wake me up when retailers actually want that many PS3's... it's not like they are flying off the shelf now... Â

Isnt this the same exact thing MS did with the 360? They gave retailers way more than they needed. Â

The PS3 is $600, and lacks games. Explain why people should own one again?Â

Microsoft doesn't give retailers Xbox 360s for free. They are put into the retail channel after they are bought from Microsoft by retailers. Gearing up for the holidays, retailers bought a lot of Xbox 360s from them.Â
They should wait for the 2.9 million standing in shevles are sold before shipping the other 5.5 millkillaj2786actually only 3.6 of them actually hit store shelves. thats the number sony reported as sold to retailers. they still have to get rid of those 1.4 sitting in sony wharehouses.

actually this isnt even a positive story hes trying to spin it. this is lower than Sony's initial estimates.11 Million more PS3's the stores have to put in the backroom.
11 Million more PS3's people won't buy.
11 Million more PS3's that will be collecting dust until sony gets it through their thick head that PEOPLE WON"T PAY FOR OVERPRICED SYSTEMS!!!!!

Since one PS3 costs much more than $599 to manufacture, I wouldn't really call it an over-priced system. It's just not worth the high price tag to a vast number of hardcore and casual gamers because there are not many stellar titles out for it at the moment. There will be a time in which the PS3 would be worth that much, however, by then I'm sure the system will have experienced a price drop.
What I find funny is that everyone seems to think the "war" is over because the PS3 isn't selling as well as everyone, Sony included, thought. The thing everyone forgets is that last gen nearly 150 million systems were sold. So far this gen there are approximately 18-20 million sold.
Does everyone think that the other 100 million+ consumers will only purchase Nintendo and MS systems? Soney will definitely lose market share this generation, but to think they are in trouble is crazy. Wait till the holidays to see how things are going. At that point Sony will have bigger titles out and all three manufactuers will have systems available for sale. It would be a very big stretch to think that Sony won't sell over 50 million systems. There are nearly 100 million Playstation playing people out there, and once the price drops the PS3 should start selling better.Â
Apparently the TC didn't read his sig because he's gloating about SONY doing the same thing that he despises in MS: that is conflating the difference between shipped and sold. I guess when Peter Moore does it, it's bad, but when Sony does it, it's okay? SONY can ship all the PS3's they want, but when there's no compelling reason to buy one, they will continue to sell poorly. I do have to say that I'm suprised they are selling as much as they are considering its expense and lack of games.
We'll see, but let's be honest, MS and Nintendo are going to trounce Sony this holiday season. And the more PS2's that SONY sells, the less PS3's will be sold. I think that the people buying PS2's now, and there's a significant number of them, are essentially admitting that they are not going to buy a PS3 for a while. It's not like your going to buy a PS2, and then buy a PS3 the next month.
