[QUOTE="dlp21"]This came from some guys blog. In other words, not credible.DaysAirlinesDean Takahashi isn't some guy.
Does that mean everything he says is valid? I think not.
Everyone is opinionated. Some more than others...
Oh RIGHT, I remember him. The guy who really pushed the ENTIRELY false rumor that MS was making a portable gaming device that would be coming out in the near future in '06. He was right on the Zune, but the portable system? Way off.
This ain't credible, IMO.

Um, yes he is.
um no he isnt.
Yes, he is. He is not quoting any Sony official, he is going off of some source. There is nothing that can validate this source, so this he can not be proven to be truthful, even if he thinks he is, in his statement. And Takahashi really is just some guy.

Um, yes he is.
Dip, may I ask how you broke your back? I have had major back problems for years now and I can understand the physical and mental pain this can cause. Do yourself a favor.....avoid the opioids if you can man, they can and will own you. Good luck.
..well... even if he is... that source could be totally wrong, and he's still going off it.
He really needs to investigate into sources rather than just posting whatever material he gets from any random source.
Still not credible IMO.
Lol, he was credible when he blew the whistle on the MS $800 bribe but not now?
Same guy right?

daysofairline is the best poster in system wars. I dont think he would post crud. Also Cows defending Sony isnt something new, I mean for gosh darn sake you know this stuff is being talked about. Sony is getting murdered , lets hope the 200 dollar price drop makes them competitive.Reyes360Days is slipping. Not only is he posting old stuff we already went over .... but there isn't much to this article.
[QUOTE="dlp21"]This came from some guys blog. In other words, not credible.DaysAirlinesDean Takahashi isn't some guy.
He is a reporter from the San Jose Mercury. His blog is more credible than the SDF. That is about as far as I would take it.
Lol, he was credible when he blew the whistle on the MS $800 bribe but not now?

Riverwolf007
He had straight up proof of the bribe, he had the bag with all the bribe gear in it. That is the difference, I am not saying he is always wrong, but I am not saying he always right either.
this is oldi-lick-monkeys
Pretty much, yeah.
Still, that's some good news for cows, I'm surprised people are getting defensive about this. This gen's problems have been partially because Sony rested on it's laurels regarding exclusives: Remember, they lost GTAIV because Kutaragi simply didn't take the time to answer Rockstar.
So it's good to know Sony is now being proactive. Takahashi is quite an attention whore, but he does get some good insider info from time to time, so I'd just sift through the loaded words (pleads, struggling, etc), and go right into the gist of it:
Sony is being proactive regarding getting games for their platform. considering their current track record, I'd say this is one of the main medicines (along with a cheaper price) to improve their standing.

It was not a bribe. Jebus. He wanted special attention, so he called a swag bag (which is common in the undustry for huge titles) a bribe. Suddenly he and his blog are popular.

Yes I have heard of his book. Have you? Its called Opening the Xbox: Inside Microsoft's Plan to Unleash an Entertainment revolution, not Inside the Xbox.
Lots of people have books. Your point is heavily flawed in that are.
What forum was linking to his blog because of his book? None. Now that he was "bribed" he is suddenly some gaming god. Its junk.
And I am far from uninformed.
As an avid reader of GameSpot, Game Informer, EGM, OXM, and PSU, not to mention Xbox-scene.com, PS3fanboy, and WiiFanboy, not to mention the owner of all three current gen systems and a computer science major at University, I would say I am rather informed about gaming.
Unlike you, I don't try and use that as justification for weilding my opinion like a club.

I don't care who you believe, but when you try and claim that I am uninformed about a book, its a good idea to know the name of the book yourself at least.

Don't grade a post on the poster's credibility, especially if it's a quote. Investigate the source, not the poster. The poster is almost always the middleman between the source and the reader.
Any poster can get a good or bad source, it's a matter of how they tell if the source is valid or not.
In all honesty, I'd be less biased towards other consoles than the PS3 if I didn't have to fight off microsoft and nintendo fanboys daily.. I'd like to be less biased, but it seems like that will never happen.

Great post.
Reading his article has me personally to not getting a PS3
Just playing, I know Sony will tell its consumers when something going on.

Reyes...you're out of your league, bud.
You're a couple days late, Mr. Current.
It's not that credible to me. Why would developers abandon the opportunity to make money? They may not make as much money on the PS3 as the 360, but they make more from both than they make from just the 360, right?
excelR83
Not necessarily on two counts:
First, it might happen that the Ps3 version becomes unprofitable. This is the most obvious alternative. However, it's not the only one. The second one requires a bit of knowledge on project evaluation. Let's assume that on average, a dev team will take 2 years and make 1 million dollars per Xbox 360 game. Porting this to the Ps3 will take the dev team 1 year, and will bring 400,000 dollars. Thus, the return would be $500,000 yearly if you make 360 exclusives, and 466,666 dollars yearly if you make a x360 game and port it to the ps3.
Of course, these are made up numbers, and not always will this be the case (otherwise there would be no multiplats or third party PS3 games), but it's an example to show how it might not necessarily make sense to port a game even if it's profitable, depending on the circumstances.
Oh, and fuzzysquash gets seconded. Reyes is quite out of his league in that, erm... "debate".

If Dean stated The 360 has only sold 8 million systems total, and MS won't be releasing a new console because they don't want to keep supporting a division that does nothing but lose money, Would you feel the same way about him?

Perhaps you should write a book? Here's a suggestion for the title:
