I'm OK with no PS4 for a few years, but hope Sony makes up for this by refreshing the OS and adding new features. The XMB is a bit stale for me even with themes. How about all those features like x-game chat hinted at? How about a better way to manage media with folders/groupings, etc. Also would love to see more 3rd party 'apps' like Pandora, Skype video chat, a browser re-up, and wider media format support.

As for the 360 - MS has to be up to something right? If not I have no idea where they are putting their money (besides Kinect). Certainly not developing killer exclusives. My guess is that MS will launch a new system xmas 2012 and Sony will be caught empty handed. MS has always been tied to PC derivative architectures and could refresh that without a complete retool to development tools or OS. They could easily extend the Kinect kit to the new platform so it's not wasted R&D by any means. Developers who also release on the PC will thank them.

In relation to nintendo it is the best move they could have made.

Bad news, I was expecting new hardware in a couple of years. Hopfully Nintendo and Microsoft deliver.

If Sony doesn't put out a console by 2012-2013, someone else will and Sony will end up with less sales yet again for the next generation.

I wish next-gen was coming sooner only so PC games could evolve at their historic rate.

This just demonstrates how bad a condition the games industry is in. Development costs have become so unmanageable, that they have to push back next generation in order to maintain today's costs as long as possible. It's not that they think the console will last 10 years, it is that it "needs" to last 10 years.

I'm not looking forward to when the next consoles come out, god know what measures they will force on the industrial; in order to cover the costs. Day one DLC is bad enough, expect new means of squeezing more out of consumers for less.

Consoles are a limiting factor on PC; because of the sheer amount of cross platform games this gen. A hardware upgrade for consoles would enable PC to not be held back for a few years.

dont they know if wii 2 comes out and sony waits 5 yrs ,wii 3 will be out by then as well i dont see how this will benifit fans of any kind, unless ur a die hard fanboy , im most certain all ps3 users will move on to next gen c onsoles wether or not its b y sony , cause graphics will be much better the price wont be to much different -for ms and nintendo consoels-they usually cost 200-400 bucks and ya losing cituation cause we all know ps3 is gonna last ten years but , i dont think itll be smart to cancel ps4

Im not saying it isn't a great system but its definately not one of the greatest...

I'm not exactly ready for a new console, but if they wait a full 10 years then the PS3 will be so outdated it won't even be playable to me. They need to release the PS4 by late 2013/early 2014.
