The DS is a kids game system.

Just like nintendo is a trashy kids toy company.

My little sister has a DS, and does my little cousin, and all of their little friends.

Its a stupid toy, get over it. Nintendo, does nothing but make stuff for kids, and when people actually call them out on it fanboys get pissed. Get over yourselves jesus christ.

The EXACT same thing can be said for Playstation

No it cant.

In order to own a ps3, your balls have to have been dropped.

Cant say that for the 360 though, those 12 year olds online ruined that console for me.

Ya, pink psp for hanna montanna, Eye TOYYYYY, Little big planet, Eye PET. Balls dropped? Ya.....thats why I see some kids online (not as mch as on 360)

The EXACT same thing can be said for Playstation. Pink PSP for Hanna Montannah, anyone?

that sounds like an attempt to get another audience (ds audience), I seriously doubt the target audience for the DS is little kids.

Natal..Pew. Pew. Pew..

Nuff said.

But all those things you listed are after thoughts that they made just to make more money from kids buying thier stuff. They focus thier stuff on the more mature audience and also having some little stuff for kids. Nintendo on the other hand, make stuff for kids only, and ignore the mature audience.

I'm not talking about the card games or the TV show, I'm talking about the MAIN games like on the GB, GBA, N64, GC, DS and Wii. Because honestly, even at the age of 20, I still find it quite complicating. When I was younger, it was still the same. It just gets harder every generation.Pices

So did I.

All I'm saying is that everything surrounding Pokemon are advertised to a younger market. That doesn't mean the game isn't perfect for adults like most Nintendo games they are perfect for most ages. I was talking about the fact that most people that play Pokemon are younger and those are ones that Nintendo are targeting in their ads and marketing.

I think I should tell you that I don't mean anything negative when I say that the biggest DS demographic are children and young teens. It's natural for a handheld to be that way. I'm 22 year old DS owner that don't really see the point in denying that. I don't feel belittled by Sony when they say that the biggest DS demographics are younger people as that is true. That doesn't mean that older people like me shouldn't or couldn't enjoy playing on the DS, it's just that there are less of me than there are of them.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the majority of DS owners are normally kids. I have no proof other than the fact nintendo didn't want china town wars because it wasn't appropriate for a younger audience. So in short I don't think the sony reps are attacking anything.

Ya sure..."mature audience" like for KZ and Resistance? Give me a break, if you focus only one 1 demographic, you won't succeed. DS has M-rated games so i dont see your point.

Nintendo is only focusing on one demographic. Thats kids between 1-9y.o. and anyone over 65.

Show me how well those M rated games sold on the DS compared to games like scribblenauts and pokemon.

Thats because Scribblenauts and Pokemon appeal to a BIGGER demographics (all ages) while GTA focus on ONE (mature), ofcourse it won't sell AS WELL. Although it sold a million , unlike the "mature" PSP version which sold 400k

how long do you guys think before Sony follows suit with 3D as well?

SolidTy

I may be mistaken, but hasn't Sony been one of the main supporters of 3D gaming for awhile now. Now, I'm not condoning they're childish publish remarks. But if I'm right, then you should remove the bolded speculative question in your post.

I'm surprised this thread is going. Between Aaron Greenburg and Reggie Fils-Aime, I don't understand the TC's perception. The Line there in Red, clearly means the TC hasn't really been following the industry to closely. Sony has been pushing 3D, and had a HUGE presence at last year's trade shows.

M'lord can I have permission to sig this? As soon as the 3DS was announced, I knew people were going to start hailing Nintendo for always innovating and forget that Sony has been pushing this a long time. This is F-ing stupid, Sony does something and everybody whines but have Nintendo and MS do the same and all of a sudden they're the epitome of innovation, they're descendants of gods. Yeah, PS fanboys are the worst.

Sony is pretty much known for their rather immature repswho seem to take any opportunity to not only insult the competition, but the competition's customers. Insulting is pretty much their "thing" while Nintendo and MS have a kind of mutual respect and seem to respond to news with more adult replies, Sony is still in the back ditching rotten fish at passers by. Here's the latest from Sony in response to the whole 3DS thing.

"Having been in the portable space for quite awhile, I think it's an interesting move but one I'd like to see where they go from a demographic standpoint. 8 and 9 year-olds playing 3D is a little bit of a stretch given where some of our research is right now."

It's Sony's favourite "Nintendo is for kids" attack! They admitted they were idiots a while back after claiming the Wii would only appeal to kids and then seemingly being wrong, it's also been shown the DS has a wide demographic, yet here they go again.

Sony really need to stop letting thier employees talk, it's not doing thier image any good.

DriftRS

Stopped reading right there, Sony is known for great products.

Yup I Was right every time Sony reps say something its immature..I wonder about when MS or even Nintendo does it are they immature to???

moistsandwich

I wonder if its a coincidence that everytime someone makes this arguement that they have a Sony/PS or related Sig. and/or Avatar?

Cows keep saying... MS does it too... Ninty does it too.... but thats all I ever hear.... no one ever provides proof or examples of it happening. Why is that?

The best thing Sony can do now is to attempt to emulate Nintendo with the PSP2...

It's funny to think that Sony will bash Nintendo for what they are doing, and then months or years later, copy it. so hilarious

Edit* Ouch... pwned from above.

Technically, Nintendo's 3D and Sony's 3D are actually very different in execution and design. It's not another case of the Dual Shock or Move.

But they obviosuly had to be impressed by either Sony or Avatar enough to want to go into the 3D business.

Sony is a bit clueless at times. Not sure why they are bashing Nintendo's DS, as their PSP Go failed miserably and even the regular PSP has been losing sales. Instead of talking smack, they make want to try and get some decent marketing for their PSP.

Clueless lol if anything this shows sony might have a brain. Everyone knows DS is targeted towards kids with its simple cartoonish games. Its funny to see fanboys hate on sony for stating well known and accepted facts.

[QUOTE="Jynxzor"][QUOTE="Origami_Kill3r"]4 1/2 years ago I asked a gamestop rep what was in his opinion the better handheld between DS and psp. He said the were un comparable because they targeted diff ages. Origami_Kill3r
Gamestop reps/employees, know everything don't they? /sarcasm.

They know first hand who buys the product. A little more credible then yourself, no?

Maybe, but Gamestop isn't the #1 window into who buys games anymore. Retailers like Walmart and Best Buy are.

Wait, what's wrong with saying that the DS is mainly a system for a younger audience? That's been the case for all handhelds, even the PSP.

I'm 22 and own a DS but that doesn't change the fact that most DS owners are children or younger teens. Handhelds have always been aimed at a younger market, the games are cheaper, the systems are cheaper and they are portable.

There is a reason why the DS has so many fantastic games for children and so few for a "Mature" audience. Sure, Nintendo's games are age-less but that doesn't change the fact that they aren't aimed to the 18-35y old Call of Duty demographic. Nintendo has always aimed their products to a younger audience than the competition.

The only reason you might find that statement wrong is if you own a DS and are too immature to accept the fact that the DS is a system mainly enjoyed by a younger demographic.

Hakkai007

Not younger demographic, but instead a wider demographic.

There is call of duty on the ds if you didn't notice.

You're going to use COD, really? Have you played any of the three recent COD game on line? It's full of little ritalin cases going ape **** crazy over the mic. I'm 19, I have a DS and even I can admit the system is targeted primarily for kids. Just because there are a few "mature" games sprinkled about in the sea of shovelware and kid oriented games doesn't mean it's targeted towards a wider audience. Oh and dude Sponge Bob IS targeted towards kids.

does that have anything to do with the topic at hand. Do you really think that isnt a hillarous commerical that identifies fanboys who are to stuck up to see it.. Are you the type of person who wouyld rather watch boring commericakls where half a guys head is missing replaced by a lame slogan like (jump in)

Nintendo is only focusing on one demographic. Thats kids between 1-9y.o. and anyone over 65.

Show me how well those M rated games sold on the DS compared to games like scribblenauts and pokemon.

Origami_Kill3r

Thats because Scribblenauts and Pokemon appeal to a BIGGER demographics (all ages) while GTA focus on ONE (mature), ofcourse it won't sell AS WELL. Although it sold a million , unlike the "mature" PSP version which sold 400k

No sir pokemon is not targeted towards all ages. Its targeted towards kids.

No, pokemon is targeted for all ages. If its targeted for kids, then I wouldn't buy it.

If the DS is kiddy then it wouldn't have M rated games or games for the core audience, nuff said.

um, Sony is definitely trying to imply that the DS is only played by 8 and 9 year olds, they've done the same thing before. In fact they called the whole Nintendo fanbase immature before. It's definitely not above them, and it's in line with their history

DriftRS
omg your just figuring this out now. DS IS TARGETED TOWARDS KIDS....................KIDS ARE IMMATURE..........Grown men who pokemon.....................therfore userbase = immatue
