Sony says:

So let me get this straight... this new unit is like the PS3 with a larger hard drive and a headset, but without hi-def movie play back included, no tilt control, game discs that hold 5x less content than Blu-ray discs, $50 a year for online play instead of being free, and it costs only $20 less than a $500 PS3? Well, perhaps they'll add those features in next year's Super X360 Turbo: Hyper Fighting edition.

Ps3's motion control seems very gimmicky. Other than that he may have a point. 3 versions of the xbox360 is quite ridiculous.

I agree with Sony's business model here. Offer more to the consumer upfront. I really dislike the idea of offering such significant hardware upgrades at the start of the console's lifespan.

And it doesn't even have fuking Wi-Fi even my DS and Wii has fuking Wi-fi.

Yeah crappy wi-fi. The $99 X360 wi-fi adaptor is better than any including the one in the PS3.

heh heh heh MS clearly has fans like these in mind when releasing the Elite. Vying for the "right" to pay for a product that others have included as standard. I would love to hear you explain how that wireless adapter outperforms the others on the market?

Just a sane reminder that all that crap is just that, CRAP, until it is proven, but one thing remains fact... Sony is still being outsold by Wii. :)

Isn't it so? Microsoft surely have known and braced for this "backlash" (so to speak) from Sony the moment they endorsed HD.

Do cows love getting "pwn3d by MS?  DMC4.

We get NGS, DMC4, GOW3, HS

who got pwned but lemmings themselves lol

NGS = pretty much a port from the original...360 users get the next NG, with no mentioning at all about ps3 getting it.

DMC4- cows got pwned.  This franchise was made for Sony, and now it's headed to the 360.

GOW3: are you going to try and "pwn" lemmings with unannounced games?  That's pretty sad.

HS: no reason to believe that this game won't flop.  All you've seen is graphics.

If Sony is such an "elite" system, how come most multiplatform games score lower, and how come after about 5 months it has still failed to produce an exclusive AAA game?  I don't see anything so "elite" about 7.9 Motorstorm and flopped Resistance.

WOW...ELITE at it's finest!

That is only $26 more than a PS3 but you get a bigger HDD that is twice the size, a better Wi-Fi, a year of XBL, a controller with Rumble, and HDMI. :)

It's all about options. What the hell is someone without a HDTV going to do with a ps3 that is capable of HDMI? Waste of money. What the hell is someone going to do with bluray without a HDTV? Waste of moeny. What the hell are you going to do with a 20-60 gb hard drive if you don't download demo's or care about backwards compatible content? Waste of money.

MS gives options.

I'd rather have one really good option, then many mediocre options. And Sony is giving you an option. If you want it buy it, if you don't want don't buy it. Not that difficult for someone.

That's actually pretty funny on Sony's part. Of course MS will still come out with their "we give consumers a choice!" crap...yeah, great choice they gave to their early adopters...Teufelhuhn
QFT. Not to mention the poor souls who decided during the holiday season of 2006 to get an Xbox360. "Congratulations! Without any warning at all, your less than 6 month old console is......OLD NEWS!"

Is that the best cows can do? To say, "well 360 has a version, its most featured and advanced (HDD/iptv/whatev), thats ALMOST expensive as the ps3's CHEAPEST version! Therefore the sony product is superior! muhahah!" seriously, this sad desperation is getting ridiculous! How can you honsetly compare the 360 and ps3 in this manner? They both have arguably the same graphical capabilities (their hardware is pretty much the same when it comes to producing graphics) yet the 360 is offered in 3 price ranges where the HIGHEST range is cheaper than sony's LOWEST range. No one HAS to have the 3rd tier xbox....you can still PLAY games (this is what matters MOST folks, not blu-ray or other tech trojan horses) on the cheapest version which is STILL $200 cheaper! good god people! use your heads!

[QUOTE="Zenkuso"]Oh yes and in the ps3 life time they won't redesign it like the psone and ps2? Bite me.GloverD
Not a year After.....

May I also add that the redesign didn't have some big extra added features that the earlier consoles didn't have, they were just smaller. (well PS2 slim comes with a built in adapter but that is the only change I know of)

So M$ forces gamers who want HDMI to buy a 120 GB hard drive? What happened to choice that they bragged about? They are charging $20 less than a $500 PS3 and they force you to get a larger HD over high-def movie playback. Poor decision.

It does. Microsoft has done for Sony what Sony has had trouble doing for themselves, and that's legitimizing PS3's price tag.

ugh..now you are just being too picky.  How many different systems do you want them to offer?  Are you expecting a 4th consolew ith hdmi and a smaller harddrive?  Wow, give MS a break.

I want them to offer ONE system. I want them to offer it at launch. I want them to stick to it for the lifespan of the console (yes, make manufacturing changes to cut costs. You can switch chips, DVD drives, Ram modules, etc... etc... But keep the basic feature set THE SAME) As a Microsoft fan, even I am peeved at this latest move to the Elite.

I'd rather have one really good option, then many mediocre options. And Sony is giving you an option. If you want it buy it, if you don't want don't buy it. Not that difficult for someone.

Unfortunatly for you, the world doesn't revolve around what YOU would rather have.  I know it hurts to hear it, but you have to believe me when I say it's true.  You have to consider the millions of other people who are interested in consoles.  Are you telling me that with all the mixed incomes, all the different work-loads and school-loads, that it's best to charge a standard price that meets the hardcore gamer as well as the casual who will only play "once in a while"?  BS.

While the whole "IF YOU WANT IT, BUY IT" concept might sound great to you..you have to consider that companies will completly disagree with this approach.  They want to reach casuals as well as the hardcore gamers: hence the options.

Take a marketing class.

Well...that leaves you with the nintendo wii, and even that has rumors going around about being upgraded.  So basically, if you want to side with a company that only offers ONE system, you are screwed.

NO.

Nobody ever argued that what the ps3 was offering for $600 dollars was a ripoff....hell, the thing comes with a bluray drive!  They argue that it's stupid that there are only $500-600 dollar versions instead of putting something out there that caters to what the competition is offering...which casuals will loudly agree.
