Ok first and foremost im in no way trying to bash the PS3 because I do own both a PS3 and 360, actually what im saying would be in sony's best interest and they should seriously consider it, so please just hear me out becasue as a big fan of both consoles I think this would be a win/win situation. Ok think for a minute if Sony just dropped the PS3 system completly but kept all their great devs like Incognito,Insominiac, Guerilla etc etc. What if instead sony being a console company they just focused all their efforst on Software and took all their great games and made them for the 360?!

Here is why I say this.. Sony has some awesome franchises, infact I think they have some better 1st/2nd party titles then either Nintendo or MS.  Now look at a amazing game like LittleBigPlanet, i personally own the game and i Love it but its selling horrible. I think its only sold 400,000 copies in 2 weeks and thats not good at all.. Now just imagine if that game was on the 360 and MS was able to advertise and market the hell out of it like they do all their other games.. I guarantee if LittleBigPlanet was on the 360 it would be HUGE, im talking about midnight launch, 1 million copies sold in its first week etc..

Now dont misunderstand me, im not talking at all about MS buying out sony.. Im just simply stating Sony go from being a console maker to focus 100% on software and make their games for the 360. think how much more money Sony would make, they wouldnt have that big burden of the PS3 costing them money and the way MS is so good at marketing games Sony would sell a CRAP LOAD of games on the 360.. I mean my God, just picture for a moment all of 360's great games like Halo, Gears, Fable etc and Sony's great games Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Motorstorm, Littlebigplanet, Uncharted, God Of War 3 all their killer apps also on the 360! I mean sony would MAKE TONS OF MONEY.. Because one thing about 360 gamers is THEY BUY GAMES.. EVEN THE BAD GAMES, 360 gamers buy games and the 360 has a excellent attach ratio.

Bottom line is this, Sony would still hold all the liscenses for their 1st party games the only difference is Sony's great devs would make their games on the 360.  Heck it could even still have the Sony logo on all of their games them being the publishers. Because if sony would just drop the PS3 hardware and focus on the awesome software they have, they would make tons and tons of money

I mean just think about it. This would benefit both sony and MS.. Sony would make more money by focusing completly on their software and the 360 would be the console they make the games for and as a result MS would sell a lot more consoles and Sony would sell a lot more games. I just dont know what it is about Sony, but they seem to have a hard to time to sell games for some reason. I mean LBP is such a great game and was hyped but couldnt break a million copies in its first 2 weeks.

So why should Sony join Microsoft and not vice versa? Sony would be making money if Xbox 360 was dead. Sony creates reliable consoles at affordable prices with free online and no over priced accessories.

In the long term it would be better for sony because think about it, Blu ray is really the only thing keeping sony in the game. If the PS3 didnt have blu ray people would just buy the 360 by default because aside from a few 1st party games their isnt anything on the PS3 that isnt on the 360 and if blu ray fails (Which it might) then the 360 will be the main console for gamers.

Me no want worry about RROD - me like PS3 - PS3 no brake on me - PS3 play Blu-Ray - PS3 have cheaper accessories

Seriously, what don't you understand about the fact that beyond game quantity, (quality is subjective), the 360 has NOTHING on the PS3.

Sony's bleeding money like crazy because of the Economic Crisis, and unless they do something fast they're in danger of going under. There is one big problem with your idea though, if Sony joins with Microsoft, that will give Microsoft a monopoly on the video game market that even Nintendo can't compete against, and MS will be hit with anit-trust suits.

The PS3 is currently $400 and it comes with wifi and a blu ray player. Stand alone blu ray players go for anywhere from $300-$500. The only accessory that I would ever need for my PS3 is a new controller once the batteries in my current one die and that's only if I want to keep playing wirelessly. I can also get blu tooth headsets for $30 bucks. They are not that exspensive. Xbox 360 on the other hand has $100 wifi adapters and HDD and $60 wireless headsets. Ridiculous prices for these items if you ask me.

Seriously, who types in bold?  Actually I know of one GS user that types in bold, I can't think of the user name right now though.

Anyway, I don't think MS would want to jump in a sinking ship.

Besides competition is good in the gaming business.

currently being the key word

also: not everyone buys the Wifi adapter, many peopel still use cables, HDD comes with the console unless you get the arcade version and the consoles generally come with a wire headset wich works perfictly fine, you dont need the expensive wireless one.

unlike the ps3 where you have to buy a headset. about the only annoying thing with the x360 is when you buy a controlelr you have to buy a re-chargeable battery pack seperate

If anything, Nintendo should drop out of hardware. I want to see Zelda on the PS3 or the 360. efrucht

That would make more sense since they're getting owned anyway. I'm a 360 fanboy myself but you never want one specific company to have a monopoly. Especially not one as bastardly as Microsoft.

I think it would be better for Microsoft to give up the hardware and go partners with sony on the PS3.

It would be better that way, I think.

We'd get the sexy exterior, the reliable console, much more great exclusives, better online service, and powerful stuff.

But I think its best the way it is right now. :)

Seriously, who types in bold?  Actually I know of one GS user that types in bold, I can't think of the user name right now though.

Anyway, I don't think MS would want to jump in a sinking ship.

Besides competition is good in the gaming business.

They are already drowning...

M$ makes more money than all but the oil companys, they arent drowning at all

their talking about their gaming division, not the entire company.

Think MS should join Sony is the way I see it. If they did ps3 users would be able to get, would get, well we would get hmmm come to think of it MS really hasn't got anything to offer Sony. No really great franchises that are time tested, no hardware that is reliable, No hd format. Maybe they could market for Sony, teach Sony to milk ps3 users, and pass on the last bit of networt features for psn to meet up and pass xbl. But other than that MS has nothing for Sony, that Sony can't fix on their own with a price drop for a console that is already out selling the 360 month to month world wide with a more expensive price tag.

Also remember when saying the ps3 launched at $599 40gb hddbeing expensive, remember there was also a $499 w/20 gb hdd launch system. And that the 360 launched at $299 no HDD and $399 w/ 20gb hdd. To this day I can't beleive people still bring up price when comparing what you actually get with each system and to top it off you have to pay for xbl to play online. So even today to get a comparable 360 it costs you $299+$50= $349, $50 less than a ps3. So please get off of the price difference lol.

Stopped reading at the second paragraph... That's the biggest load of crap I've read in years! Why the hell should Sony pack up? SONY - the company, which has built two of the most successful video game consoles in history?! SONY - who has given so much to gaming?! If anything, Microsoft is the one who should quit and leave it to the professionals.

excuse me?

Your clearly living in the past. Last I checked, PS3 is the biggest market share loser in the history of video games. Sony is past its prime.

Excuse me? Microsoft is clearly the one who will never be able to win anything on the console market.

They won second place last gen and is holding onto #2 now, ahead of the former #1 contender for the past 2 generations. Thats with RROD, lackluster Japan support and $50 for Live annually.

If that doesnt say something, you cant be reasoned with.

If for some odd reason Sony did go third party what makes you think they would make games for a console which is not the best selling this gen and has none existant market penetration in their home country?
