Is this not testament to the blindess of PS3 fanboyism when they attempt to explain how paying $200 more for a console that has been out less than a year is a GOOD thing?

They feebly attempt to relate a price slashing nearly equal to the value of a Nintendo Wii to Microsoft adding HDMI as a standard feature on the 360.

What's next? Will they praise Sony for making them purchase an additional controller so they can have the feature that was taken away from them after the PS2? Oh wait, they already did that.

This has nothing to do with desperation, slapping consumers in the face, or any other nonsense. It's basic economic law. Sony's anticipated demand curve moved to the left and the corresponding point on the supply curve was a lower price level. That's it.ramey70

That sounds like a bunch of rather poor marketing speak. Last time I checked, all of us were here to play games, i.e. we're the consumers. We're supposed to care when we get ripped off. Instead, you pretend we should be happy for Sony.

Its one thing to rely on brand loyalty to sell a console. The PS3 is being sold on the dream that one day it will actually live up to the expectations of "most powerful console evar".

Its something totallydifferent to use that brand loyalty and then smack your most loyal customers with a $200 price drop on your console. We won't talk about the utter lack of AAA game content that one would expect after paying such a premium.

People will look back on the PS3 as a case study in how to destroy what's left of a company's reputation.

How is dropping the price burning customers?

Nobody can believe that junk. Early adopters always pay more for their console.

It happened for the 360, and it happened for the PS3.

Being surprised over a obvious (And I mean everyone seen this coming at the holiday season!) move and being enraged by it is plain stupid.

Just sell your PS3 off if you really think Sony is trying to target people like you.

They will sell more PS3s and bring up their consumer base thanks to the price drop.

Pfft! Brand Loyalty. Thats the dumbest thing a consumer can create! Selling your soul to a corporation isn't going to get you any benefits, only an empty pocket.

I am a little ticked about that $200 price drop because I would've waited. I got my PS3 in January.
