[QUOTE="nightshade869"][QUOTE="percech"]My thoughts? MS knows how to make money and Sony knows how to spend it.Deadbeatcobra

Is that why M$ has only two good exclusives in the entire year???

from a business point of view its actually very smart, since the multiplats outshine exclusives this gen, but if they continue down this path while Sony keeps expanding their studios i can see microsoft hurting a lot next gen. They need to balance more with spending and saving

I would guess that multiplats would be a much less risky investment for a console manufacturer. Then again, I'm not really qualified to make anything but a guess in that area.

Multiplats do not outshine exclusives this gen, only 360 owners say that and for obvious reasons, as for it being a good business decision I disagree media molecule might of went multiplat were the entire demographic for QD is on ps3 a 360 port would be a waste of money and Sony is going to get the exclusives if they buy it or not

hmmm.. ok i'll bite. List all of the exclusives while i'll list all of the mutiplats. We will see what outshines what.

I realize you're a core gamer, and this comment will fall on deaf ears, but MS has already released a ton of Kinect exclusives, which have sold well. Being completely honest, I'm pretty sure MS cares more about sales than the rantings of a few core gamers. As any company should.

Good move. Heavy Rain was a quality game that sold well.

I like how Cage didn't design his game by looking at what everybody else was doing. Its great that Sony's a big publisher, but they could deemphasize shooters a bit. Not that shooters shouldn't be a well covered category(its the most popular category at the moment), but roughly half their output are shooters, which is a little excessive.

The success of games like Demon's Souls, Heavy Rain, Infamous and Littlebigplanet show that there's a wider market out there, and I'd argue that some genres are underserved.

Sony has built a very respectable stable of 1st party developers. And I don't know about Sucker Punch, but Ted Price has said that Insomniac wishes to remain independent. Their relationship with Sony is perfectly fine. Their EA game, they're simply testing the waters.

You quoted the wrong person. Secondly, we were both speaking from the financial standpoint. And sorry, If you really want to take all of the high scoring games, multiplats will kill exclusives.

Maybe somewhere down the road... there's game I'd prefer buying atm, so I'll probably leave it for a time when there's nothing coming out.

Also, I suck at QTE :P

Yeah, you jumped from the chair to keep you awake.

David Cage and Sony are a match made in heaven, since they both have large hubris for no reason....

Can't wait for the next QD game, when they included exciting features like: Put a slice of bread in a toaster, butter and put jelly on it. Pour a glass of milk and have breakfast, belch for the amusement of co workers.

There's a lot of other great moments in the game. Something tells me you haven't played it.

They should also get Sucker Punch

eboyishere

Amen to that.

i thought they already were?

and i think sony is known well for taking care of there devs....i mean naughty dog has been with sony since crash on PS1

That's wrong, Sony bought Naughty Dog in 2001 after they were released from Universal (now Activision), I believe it was the same case with Insomniac but they went independent. That's why Spyro and Crash Bandicoot stayed with Universal (then Vivendi, and finally Activision:(), but then again, they did want to make new IP's since Spyro and Crash were too limited according to them.

As for this news, it's quite surprising but it's the safer choice I guess.:? Heavy Rain did sell very well.:) As for Sucker Punch, who knows. I highly doubt it at least for now but maybe something could happend one day.:)

... Speaking of Quantic, I need to buy Heavy Rain.:P I still haven't but if it's anything close to Indigo Prophecy minus the terrible voice acting I heard, shouldn't be too bad.:)

From the same site that claimed Everquest II was coming to PS3 and GTAV was to be set in Vice City and released in 2009. Either they make things up or have unreliable sources. Either way...

I don't really see the need, they seem to support Sony anyways, instead of making any new game since Heavy Rain they've been more interested in adding Move support to an already existing game.

Sony is on a buying spree. It doesn't make sense why they're laying off so many people and closing studios though. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/dcuniverseonline/news.html?sid=6306538

How?

Factor 5 was an independent studio that simply couldn't get more work after Lair.

Factor 5 can be seen being parallel to Silicon Knights. However Factor 5 actually closed down.:(

Sony constantly buys studios and keeps them open. Media Molecule and, if this ends up being true, Quantic Dream are their latest acquirements.

Microsoft barely buys studios, but when they do, they close them down or strip them of their creativity.
