[QUOTE="eboyishere"]if they come out after xbox then they are done. Unless they are playing on undercutting the competition in price. Thats really the only thing that can do it right now.LazySloth718
I don't think that they can even afford to do so with PS Vita or PS4. They constantly did that with PS3 only because they had all the profits of both PS1 & PS2 lined up to help back them up on some losses with.
No.
Here is what's happening.
The PS3 is very EXPENSIVE to develop for. Hence they have lost alot of third-party support, at least in terms of getting equal quality multiplats (see Skyrim, Fallout, Bayonetta, etc.)
To make up for these shortcomings, they dump all of the budget into 3rd party studios to push exclusives.
This is why Playstation is not as profitable as they would like, because those profits are being eaten up by strong first-party support, to compensate for weak third-party support.
If the PS4 has similar problems, if it is similarly expensive to develop for, they will not survive the next generation.
They absolutely MUST put out a PS4.
It MUST have a competent architecture.
If not, this will be their last console.
I agree with all of this. What Sony needs to do is stop making all of these exclusives in which most of them doesn't even break even for them (only bring back the ones which are very popular & which franchises are very profitable), make the PS4's architecture very easy for 3rd party developers, & to not use very expensive tech just to please some whiny fanboys.
They just need to make the PS4 as cost effective as possible in order for them to be profitable (or to at least break even) on the 1st day.
