I'll say again what I said in the last thread about this. This article cites, "sources", and is riddled with bad grammar and spelling. The fact that anyone actually thinks this has the slightest base in reality, kind of boggles my mind. I mean, for f*ck's sake, open your eyes, people. And before that f*cking idiot who called me a Sony fanboy in the last thread even gets to it, I'll have everyone here know that I'm no fanboy of any kind (except maybe PC). Feel free to search my posts for something where I "jumped on" the rumors of the Wii U power specs, as that moron immediately accused me of in the last thread. You won't find any, because I have not and will not succomb to this fanboy bullsh!t. The 6670 and the 7670 are the same exact chip, same with the 5670. So, both 'next gen' consoles will power their graphics with 2009, entry level PC hardware.

what would be the point of launching a new console with almost the same specs when they can add as many new peripherals as they want on the PS3 through updates like they did with the Move and MS with the Kinect.

It could come out with weaker hardware and it would still be an instant day 1 buy. Offering a barn bursting amount of world class, high scoring exclusives makes the decision easy. Sony, buy it for looks, buy it for games, buy it for life. Heil68

I don't know why people are so surprised about next generation consoles not having top of the line graphics, or why everyone thinks that is a bad thing. If you want top of the line graphics, please go purchase a gaming computer. Consoles are not meant to be extremely powerful, they are meant to reach a wide audience of people, and having an extremely powerful console only impeeds that goal because the price will be higher. The Wii launched at $250, the Playstation 3 launched at $600 and the Xbox 360 launched at $400 and the Wii outsold both systems, and Sony managed to lose the majority of its market share and come in last in terms of sales, and lost the vast majority of its money they earned on the Playstation and Playstation 2. Sony as a company right now is not doing well finacially and selling an expensive system for a loss day one probably will not bode well for them. Think how great of a position Sony could be in if they sold a $300 system at launch for a profit. To be honest I'm not really a fan of expensive consoles, it defeats the purpose for me and the point of a console entirely. Less expensive consoles means people will have more money to spend on video games, accessories, purchase more consoles (buying two $300 consoles is easier to swallow and a better value in my opinion than buying one for $600), and may be more impulsive when it comes to buying consoles in general. Less expensive consoles also means that companies can keep the prices of their systems decent and make higher profit margins on them later down the road, or they can lower the price more in order to stay competative. This generation is six and a half years old and the only console that is sub $200 is the Wii at the moment, and I do believe that some can be found for $99. Last generation towards the end all of the consoles were sub $200, this generation they are not because they were so expensive to manufacture that the prices have to stay higher for companies to make more profit and recuporate their losses. You want to know what the Super Nintendo, Playstation, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Playstation 2, Wii and 3DS all had in common? They all sold the most for their generations, and they were the less powerful systems. They sold more because they were more accessiable to a wide audience due to their lower price.
