If you're waiting for PS4 portable, you'll be in for long one. There is no technology out there that can scale PS4 hardware down that much. It's just not possible yet.

Then there is power. The base PS4 uses up to 90W during gaming, by contrast, Switch is 9W!

@Bond007uk: Yeah, as a tech geek that's one of my favourite things about the Switch! :D

I wouldn't mind if they took another stab at it. I enjoyed the psp and should have bought a vita. But I really think they could do good if they did away with proprietary memory cards and allocated some ips to it. Like Sly Cooper Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter. And maybe they can revive Parappa and Lammy for it. I looked it up they own Dragoon why not revive that as well. I guess what I'm saying is their handheld needs it's own staple line up.

Oooh time to come out with their version of the Switch.

Playstation TV was another failed idea that I'm sure helped Nintendo refine the switch. I appreciate them taking risks so that Nintendo can better their devices in the future.

Hopefully, its just a rumor and the president shut down this idea and it never sees the light of day.

This is a massive waste on resources, time, money that could go to exclusives games.

I am a asshole for saying this but I don't care; I really glad smartphones are killing handhelds, resources wasted on these little shits could have been leverage for at least 8 AAA exclusives.

Failed gamer logic. One thing does not negate another. It's smarter to have multiple avenues of revenue. Relying solely on one is risky. A company can successfully run both. This crazy idea that somehow a ton of something you like would be held back, well it's ignorant, and flawed in almost every way.

Big Playstation fan but given how they treated Vita, I won't be supporting another Sony handheld... ever.

They probably won't even support it themselves.

I loved the PSP. I own two of them. I would have eventually bought a Vita but it was almost shocking how quickly they dropped support for it.

@Bread_or_Decide: PSP was a great handheld because it got both first and third party AAA support for about 4-5 years. It had at least one of every major franchise on it.

PSV on the other hand had AAA support for half the time via mostly shitty adaptations and ports. Then it dropped AAA all together becoming the Japanese import and cell phone game device. Neither of which are worth the price I paid for the handheld.

The only reasons I even still have my PSV are to play Uncharted GA, PS1 and PSP games and remote play; which works about half the time with shit control ideas.

I don't why its a bad idea for them to try again. Persistence is key.

Agreed! I really dig this about Sony.

Yes, they've had a hard time w/ Mobile. But they take off/away from that market, and are willing to try again. You have to be persistent. To be persistent and risk failure means you have something of a plan or at least some lessons learned that gives you confidence to take another risk.

This may well not do well, either. But their willingness to re-enter this market segment is evidence of their corporate emphasis on diversification and risk-taking.
