Sony: We have a plan, Xbox 360 price cut wont make any difference

With the impending announcement of an Xbox 360 price drop just around the corner, Sony has firmly stated that it will not push back the launch of PS3 Slim to compete with Microsoft's discounted Xbox 360 Elite model.

According to an SCEE spokesperson, Microsoft's Xbox 360 activity won't make any difference to its plans:

We have agreements in place with all retailers and Centresoft to make sure the release date is not broken.

It just goes to show Sony's commitment to push the PS3 Slim to more consumers without any hiccups or delays.

I agree. The PS3 slim is kind of a new product on the market and is at a great price. MS simply cutting the price of the 360 wont do much. It would be smarter to release a new color(s)...or even a smaller 360 (they don't have time to do that now though).

Of course it won't make a difference sony's PS3 will be last place while the 360 in 2nd and the Wii in first by the end of the year..Sony's statement was spot on.

good, I hope they do, them pushing back the slim would be longer for me to wait before Id be able to buy it.

EDIT: After reading the below post...by business wise I mean it not selling more than the 360 and Wii. They're not even doing bad overall. I think they're doing pretty good actually.

maybe it was just the time I came on, but every singele time I entered system wars I was bombared with page upon page of everything from that game informer poll, to people claiming that 360 had "last gen" graphics.

If you can have the best games or the games that are almost the best it's a very easy choice

If it stood on equal footing with the 360 as far as games that's one thing but it's got an inferior online service and it's got inferior multiplats in almost all cases. What's the point?

Their exclusives? Yeah, at some point then it's worth it as a third console as long as you're not getting a Slim

The PS3 is like Wile E. Coyote no matter what crazy scheme he comes up with he will never catch Road Runner (Xbox 360).

If you were around at the time of the PS2 Slim you'd know that Sony did it after a half decade of solid PS2 sales

The PS3 has struggled on the market since launch and it's not even three years old

They're completely different circumstances

299 for a ps3 is almost like a ps2 at 199. only bad thing that extra 100 really hurts at this time of the year. with parents having to buy school stuff and what not. but i do think sony will be on par with wii and 360 sale this holiday for the first time in its life.

Meh I wouldint use inferior. I will admit xbl is a bit better,but thats because it has 3 features sony needs. Such as voice for cross game chat and party since sony has only text. Also instint invite. Sony has instint invite in a way,but itsnot apart of themainframe itself.Also the multiplat thing is so unoticable. UNless you zoom in every 5 seconds and pause.

We've been grinding sony for the Slim and for a price cut for so long, and now that they have, i really hope they are encouraged that YOU NEED TO SELL YOUR HARDWARE FOR AS CHEAP AS POSSIBLE!!!!!! Otherwise, we might be looking at a $1000 PS4 :(
