Sony: We Passed Microsoft in Europe and they dont exist in Japan..

Sony have stated them passing Microsoft in Europe for sales and that MS dont even exist in Japan :lol:..while in USA their Neck and Neck.. Sony is winning WorldWide and soon just like its brother the PS2 it will destroy the compition!

Sony have yet again passed the 360 in Europe? Good for them! Is this the 4th or 5th time they have done so now? I keep losing count.

How is Sony's global business bigger than the PS3 exactly? 360 has sold more units and more software, I guess the cows are feeding from the same old Sony trough of PR BS.

I don't think they're winning worldwide. I thought 360 had like a 6-8 million lead?

Those are some bold claims. I do agree that sony has a greater presence in Europe and most definately Japan but they really need to be concentrating on America if they want to catch up to microsoft.

I'm from Europe and in my country Sony has always been the preferred platform. PS2 was very popular and not a single person owned an Xbox. It's something like that this gen. You can get a 360 but you're going to have to look very very hard. PS3 is available everywhere.Revan_911

And you should. Personally, I couldn't even look at my PS3 knowing it was in last place, but now that Sony has said they're catching up, my PS3 has never gotten more play time.

The thing is that in most smaller countries MS dosent support 360 officially because of ENORMOUS ammount of pirated games.Same with macedonia and any other Balkan country,thats why ps2 is popular there,while ps3 is not even close.

Now, of course, publishers are interested in total sales, but Sony wants to show potential, so that their platform is not ignored. And at the moment, I think, big, third party games wouldn't ignore PS3 or 360.

Sony's PlayStation business is certainly much larger than Microsoft's Xbox business worldwide.

However, Sony's PS3 business still lags significantly behind Microsoft's Xbox 360 business both in terms of total reach and in terms of attach rate and revenue generation.

Well there is an answer for that. What is one of the top sellign features of the PS3? The bluray feature. used for... wait for it... MOVIES. Yes, many PS3 owners got their ps3 as a sales pitch from retail reps saying "its the cheapest bluray player on the market" and thus consumers bought their ps3 for the sole purpose of playing HD bluray movies.

I'm not saying all ps3 owners do this, but i'm willing to bet a large majority of them are casuals who got the console just for that purpose. You think old grandma is gonna pop in uncharted 2 and start gaming away? She probably just knows 'disc goes in slot, press play' and off she goes with her I love lucy bluray movies...
