Sony: We Passed Microsoft in Europe and they dont exist in Japan..

Whenever I read this threads I can tell its full of kids or uneducated adults who still live in their moms basements!!!

If winning by large margin conciders to be owned then yes I would love to be owned all the time!!!

True but at the same time smaller competitor has no business talking about owning guys who are 280 pounds when he is only 210 pounds. When he gets very close or passes them then he can talk about owning. So at this point FACTS are FACTS , Sony is behind by 5million consoles and behind on game attach ratio. I cant argue ffacts. What if and maybes are just wishful thinking. Logical adults can only talk about facts and discuss facts and not what if's.

Even if by some miracle MS was to lose to Sony by million or two consoles, Microsoft would still be winner. Ms took huge chunk of gaming pie away from sony and nintendo and that is a win for any company. As long as nintendo , sony, microsoft all making money then it does not matter who comes in first , second or third. As long as they all make profit there is room for all 3 companies. After all someone has to lose someone has to win but in the end companies are here to make money. So does it matter if they come in 3rd if the market share is pretty much evenly divided and all 3 companies made money.

I am a real game that lives in the real world and all that exclusive crap does not matter in real world. All i care about is if i can play a good game on my xbox and ps3. who made that game does not matter to me one bit!!!!!!!! Just like it does not matter to me who made a good movie, if movie is good then i'll pay to see it i dont care if its made by 20th centry fox or by sony or by paramount. in the end only fanboys lose out :)

Isn't this like the 4th time Sony has said they have passed the 360 in Europe? So does that mean that they have actually lapped the 360 4 times? Sort of impressive considering Sony's numbers are even still showing an 8 million trailing of the Xbox360 worldwide. 39 million to 31 million last I heard. Seems like the gap has been 8 million for awhile now, shouldn't they be catching up at some point?

Well there is an answer for that. What is one of the top sellign features of the PS3? The bluray feature. used for... wait for it... MOVIES. Yes, many PS3 owners got their ps3 as a sales pitch from retail reps saying "its the cheapest bluray player on the market" and thus consumers bought their ps3 for the sole purpose of playing HD bluray movies.

I'm not saying all ps3 owners do this, but i'm willing to bet a large majority of them are casuals who got the console just for that purpose. You think old grandma is gonna pop in uncharted 2 and start gaming away? She probably just knows 'disc goes in slot, press play' and off she goes with her I love lucy bluray movies...

It's great that Sony has passed Microsoft in the EU and Japan but the Xbox 360 is still leading in worldwide sales thanks to the US.

Here is some basic Math,

Microsoft 39 million consoles divided by 5 years = 7.8 million consoles sold per year.

SONY 34 million consoles divided by 4 years = 8.5 million consoles sold per year.

This race is alot closer than all you shareholders make it out to be.

If they sold/are selling so many PS3s, why can't they sell any games?

Well, the EU is a larger market for games than the US so I would assume that Europe is a larger market for games than North America.

Also theres a few countries which MS dont support like Greece,most of the balkans and im sure Turkey is unsupported aswell which in a way is loosing out on parts of that market MS could capitalise on.

Also as far as im aware european market tends to be a more sony centric one aswell.

Wait...so the other post you made talked all about straight cut wins. MS is 5 million units ahead of Sony. Facts are facts, no almost. They are actually second in the biggest market, despite launching 16 months after the Microsoft.

Sony are catching MS up, that's for sure. The PS3 is now a complete system and has the sales to back it up.

and we can even add to that. If both consoles last 10 years like MS and Sony say they will.

Microsoft 7.8 million consoles sold per year multiplied by 10 = 78 million after 10 years

Sony 8.5 million consoles sold per year multiplied by 10 = 85 million after 10 years

doubt the yearly averages will stay consistent later in the life span of both systems, but just saying this sales war is closer than you all make it out to be.

Funny. Halo alone sold about as many copies (according to VGChartz) as UC2+KZ2+MGS4. Gears of War 1 and 2 both sold more than 5 million copies, both of them I believe outsold ANY PS3 exclusive (GeoW2 may be neck and neck with MGS4). Xbox outsold PS3 with MW2, and nearly every? (correct me if I'm wrong) multiplat. Hell Halo ODST, an over priced expansion, outsold UC2 by over a mil in sales. PS3s are big game sellers suuure lol. Maybe in the future. But right now, for some reason, xbox players are far more willing to part with their cash i guess.

EDIT...Oh, and barely 18% brought the "greatest epic video game/movie, with teh greatest graphics, best gameplay and a story that is better than Gone With the Wind, all of the Star Wars movies and Titanic combined, heck, it should have won a grammy" MGS4, that is nothing to brag about, especially when a good portion of those sales were bundled with hardware.
