Yeah, I'm in the SWs spirit.

This is what will probably happen:

1- Nintendo is getting their parallax barrier screens from Sharp.

2 - Sony wasn't expecting Nintendo to jump ship on this tech.

3 - Sony won't use a costly 3rd party hardware from Sharp on their machine. Profits are already small, if any at start with NGP.

4 - Nintendo is heavily successfull with its new gimmick. Sony trash talks them while developing a proprietary 3D screen for a later NGP.

5 - Sony fanboys rejoice. 3D glassesless is now the best thing ever.

6 - Nintendo fanboys point out their hypocrisy.

7 - Sony fans deny that Nintendo played any part, and that this was a decision made purely on the fact they had the technology years ago, but didn't feel like using it until now

8 - Overall sales patern remain pretty much the same.

Nintendo copied Sony because Sony already has 3DTVs and 3D capable games on the market. They both copied PC because PC has had 3D capability for longer than TVs or handhelds. PC copied the human eye because we all see in 3D.

Hence, why 'Copy' is in the thread title.

I'd rather see Sony copy as opposed to pulling a Nintendo and remaining stuck in their ways about everything. Oh, and nice copy/paste job.

Nintendo has been doing 3D since the 80s. They had some games in 3D in 1988. They also had a GCN model that had a screen add-on that was 3D without glasses. They also had a GBA SP with 3D capabilities.

Seriously, this copying accusation bs on system wars is hilarious. One fanboy accuses competition of copying their favorite company and so fanboy B has to retrace the origin of said technology(regardless of how it was originally applied) to try and disprove it. The stupid part is that if the competition doesn't copy then they are accused of being behind the times.

As long as glasses free 3D is as limited as it is now, it won't get anywhere near Sony's handhelds.

Nintendo will probably "copy" the dozens of features the NGP has that it doesn't and put it in the next 3DS models.

But when it comes to Nintendo and Sony it is so obvious that no one but the most fanatical cows can see what has been going on for years.

Nintendo is the only real innovator in the business and have introduced many of the things that we take for granted today.

When Sony came into the business, their controller for Playstation was pretty much a straight copy of the SNES controller, just adding two extra shoulder buttons and changing the buttons and d-pad enough to not get sued.

What Sony did introduce however was CD and while it had the advantage of being cheap and able to store alot of data it also made games have very long load times something that was unheard of before, you actually had to sit and wait for the game/level to start.
That's why we are stuck with slow optical media today, not because Sony really wanted to give game developers more space to work with, but because they wanted to add CD-players to peoples homes to support the new format Compact Disc.
The same happened later with PS2 and DVD.

Then Nintendo introduced analog stick and rumble, Sony took those ideas and tacked it on their existing controller.

With GameCube there wasn't anything major introduced by Nintendo, and as a result, not much changed in the other camps either, it was just more power than last generation.

Then the Wii arrived with it's revolutionary controlls, we all know what happened then, Sony just had to tag along and tacked some motion controlls onto their controller... and the story goes on.

Possible, but unlikely. 3D does actually required added processing power on top of the screen, so to maintain the old version's power leveled they'd have to significantly have to increase the horsepower under the hood, which isn't likely.

Well of course it is, if Sony is copying Nintendo for using something that already exists on they handheld, than Nintendo is copying sony for putting something that already exists on their handheld.

I doubt it. That would drive up the cost of the device even more than (whatever) it already is.

And you're acting as if Nintendo hasn't copied anything Sony has pioneered:

-Dual Analog Controller attachment for the Wii

-A single analog stick on the 3DS

That's a bit of stretch to call copying, if it even happens. Not like 3D is a new revolutionary idea that wouldn't of cropped up in handheld gaming without Nintendo.

It doesn't matter what they call it. It functions as an analog stick and Nintendo used an idea that Sony pioneered. They are not immune from sharing ideas and concepts other people have put forward just because they're Nintendo.

PSP was the first successful handheld with an analog stick/slider/nub and Nintendo saw the advantage in having something similar in their device.

If they do, then the 45 min during which the thing would be powered will certainlybe glorious.

Otherwise it's a pointless gimmick. I bet most people won't even play their 3DS with 3D on most of the time.

Of course. Companies copy each other all the time. Without achievements there would be no trophies, without Wii there would be no Move, Sony does it and so does Nintendo and so does Microsoft, but making Nintendo out to be some sort of melting pot of creativity seems insincere.

But S0NY put 3D in there games FIRST!! (i think) so NINTY copied of S0NYRatchet_Fan8

Almost every Nintendo system had 3D. The Gamecube has 3D funtionality and Luigi's Mansion had a 3D mode.

Nintendo had developed glasses-free 3D as far back as 2001
