Heyas

Now i take a traditional view, that the winner of Each console Generation is the console which is most successful based on how many people decide to buy one, i.e Sales.

Sales have always crowned 1 console over another as the winner, and i personally dont see why that would change now. That said i know lots of people have differing views. Off-course there will be endless debate about who has the best games on a console, because everyone has a different opinion and different tastes.

So basically I think the Wii has won, I mean its goin nuts and its done a successful business move of tapping a previously neglected part of the market. For those who argue about 'real' gamers, It is my opinion that once someone buys a Console and a game to go with it, they are a gamer, (because what else would they be now?).

As for 3rd and 2nd places, I was in favour of the 360 taking out 2nd. It had a lot going for it. Diverse Library, Year head-start, powerful on-line etc.

However I think that has changed with the advent of the Blueray Success. Basically, from the beginning, Sony's main goal with the ps3 was not as a console. It was to help Blueray succeed, Period. This can be seen by how Sony gave free ps3's with their Sony Bravia TV's, and how they also priced it to make an incredible loss per unit sold. I think this has paid off now because of the situation im now in.

Blueray has won..., Now I need a Blueray player..., The cheapest BlueRay player is the PS3 which has the added bonus of being able to play games. HD DVD is now defunct, and on the news you can already hear how M$ need to get BlueRay for their 360 in some from or another. So now M$ will have to pay Sony for their format.

I personally wont be getting a ps3 untill FF13 comes out, however im sure sales will start to increase now that Blueray is the concrete winner and people will start looking towards Blueray players.

Microsoft will be last because the only people who will by it are dedicated gamers - The stereotypical 8-30yr old males.
Sony tapps this market and also the - Non-gamers who want the new format DVD player
Nintendo wins because its console is making a huge effort at reaching males/females at any age.

What do people think?

Most likely it will.

People go into bestbuy to buy a blue ray player will be notified by the sales rep that the ps3 is also equipped wth a blueray player

Sony will get second place because of brandname and becasue it's games appeal to a larger audiance. It's simply a more worldly console thant the frat boy, North American, centric 360.

I disagree that its games appeal to a larger audience. And other then japan everywhere else seems to accept the 360 without too much bias

i think 2nd place was already confirmed lol, microsoft seems like they gave up in terms of selling their hardware, also i suspect microsoft will stop producing 360 as soon as the new xbox comes out. but i'm still not sure if sony is gonna beat wii or not but we'll just wait and see :P

will it help sell more ps3? sure......will it help ps3 in terms of video games? no....because people will be buying the ps3 as a blu-ray player, not a gaming console.....and if you think you are gonna walk into bestbuy looking for a blu-ray player, they will most likely not point to the ps3....since the ps3 is supposed to be a "cheap" blu-ray player, they will point out to the blu-ray players since they want to get the most money out of you

I've been asked by a few older family members and friends about Blu-Ray players, and which I felt were the best on the market. I tend to respond with the ps3, mainly because of it's firmware update capabilities and lower price. They usually roll their eyes.

I think the initial end of HD-DVD will help boost sales, but the inevitable BD add-on for 360 will erase a big advantage Sony has going for them. Especially if future 360s have a bulit in player.

The last part will never happen MS wants Digital Distribute to win out.

I don't know man, it seems like it's unstoppable now. They favor Dig Dist, I know a high up in Disney Entertainment, that claims MS would love to see movies go digital, but the consumer base just isn't there.

putting focus into hardware is good...

for example, the 360 put no focus into making thier consol not be a piece of $hit that overheats and breaks down all the time.

Sony didn't focus on Blu Ray they focused on the newest tech period. The Cell and the Blu Ray and to keep costs somewhat down the GPU isn't as strong as the 360's. But now that Blu Ray has secured the next format and the Cell is gaining more support (supposedly it can perform GPU functions?) IF developers can tap that power then we might be able to get some superior games from the system but that's up to developers. For the sake of gaming let's hope they do right?

And because of Microsoft's 33%-16% failure rate, people heard the stories. Smart consumers buy things that work. You have some 360 owners buying or playing there PS3's because there are sick of the 360 RRing and Read disk errors. Microsoft still have not fixed the problem, I mean, yea give them credit, they try, but damn, what's goin its been 3-4 years? This is way the 360 dont have no real lead over the PS3...the Wii, thats a lead. 360 vs. PS3, its around a 18 mil to 10 mil spread with a head start, thats not a lot, thats like a 15-13 spread if they came out the same year, and with the PS3 out sell the 360 14 weeks str8, its pretty much gonna happen soon.

Here the twist:

I dont understand why 360 fan boys still support a lemon. Games games games, yea, we know you got games, but when do you play them when some systems are always in the ER, it gets released from the ICU, then right back in again. Microsoft gave you a 3 year insurance policy with a loop hole, Microsoft is trying to fix the RRing, but not the read disk error, all you get now is read disk errors, but the insurance policy dont cover that, thats a $100 deductable for you. The only real defense fan boys have is XBL. XBL is just the market place, demos, trailers, movies, games, tv shows. You pay $50 to spend more money, you can get onto the internet for free from any computer and buy the same content, save yourself $50, PS3 has most of the same content for $50 less. Then you have to buy points.....just to spend them again, why not buy the content the first time, cut out the middle man. The 360 is the pimp and hes raping the fanboys.
