I've been asked by a few older family members and friends about Blu-Ray players, and which I felt were the best on the market. I tend to respond with the ps3, mainly because of it's firmware update capabilities and lower price. They usually roll their eyes.
I think the initial end of HD-DVD will help boost sales, but the inevitable BD add-on for 360 will erase a big advantage Sony has going for them. Especially if future 360s have a bulit in player.

I don't know man, it seems like it's unstoppable now. They favor Dig Dist, I know a high up in Disney Entertainment, that claims MS would love to see movies go digital, but the consumer base just isn't there.Sony didn't focus on Blu Ray they focused on the newest tech period. The Cell and the Blu Ray and to keep costs somewhat down the GPU isn't as strong as the 360's. But now that Blu Ray has secured the next format and the Cell is gaining more support (supposedly it can perform GPU functions?) IF developers can tap that power then we might be able to get some superior games from the system but that's up to developers. For the sake of gaming let's hope they do right?
Sony will get second place because of brandname and becasue it's games appeal to a larger audiance. It's simply a more worldly console thant the frat boy, North American, centric 360.goblaa
And because of Microsoft's 33%-16% failure rate, people heard the stories. Smart consumers buy things that work. You have some 360 owners buying or playing there PS3's because there are sick of the 360 RRing and Read disk errors. Microsoft still have not fixed the problem, I mean, yea give them credit, they try, but damn, what's goin its been 3-4 years? This is way the 360 dont have no real lead over the PS3...the Wii, thats a lead. 360 vs. PS3, its around a 18 mil to 10 mil spread with a head start, thats not a lot, thats like a 15-13 spread if they came out the same year, and with the PS3 out sell the 360 14 weeks str8, its pretty much gonna happen soon.
Here the twist:
I dont understand why 360 fan boys still support a lemon. Games games games, yea, we know you got games, but when do you play them when some systems are always in the ER, it gets released from the ICU, then right back in again. Microsoft gave you a 3 year insurance policy with a loop hole, Microsoft is trying to fix the RRing, but not the read disk error, all you get now is read disk errors, but the insurance policy dont cover that, thats a $100 deductable for you. The only real defense fan boys have is XBL. XBL is just the market place, demos, trailers, movies, games, tv shows. You pay $50 to spend more money, you can get onto the internet for free from any computer and buy the same content, save yourself $50, PS3 has most of the same content for $50 less. Then you have to buy points.....just to spend them again, why not buy the content the first time, cut out the middle man. The 360 is the pimp and hes raping the fanboys.
