 sony motion tech was an epic fail is just like the wii with better presicion:lol:

LOL omg this fanboys are crazy

:? the 360 one is 300 % better than that POS

Ps3 already has an EyEtoy, so did the ps2.

And the eyetoy did not track depth by measuring the time it takes reflected light to return to the camera, did not have built in voice recognition software for the developers to use, and did not have true face recognition.

You could say that Natal is a 3d eyetoy with amazing software built in, but that wouldn't exactly be "the same", would it?

none of the natal tech is really new, just look at the eyepet ps3. voice recognition is cool but its no diff from using a headset in games like .....that one ps2 game where u guide that girl around with your voice. lifeline was it?

That goes for Cows too, any cow who's hyping what was seen in that abortion of a motion control demonstration is deluding themselves.

if i can play a game like the dude played in the demo witrh the arrow and sword, ill be all over it, a lot of potencial coming from a prototype for harcore, imagine swingin that thing he swinged to control kratos blades, or ratchets weapons.

ms has more techonolgy on it, but its too fancy, and the only thing i recalled form a a game was the girl jumping likea monkey with rage

Posts like this make me fear for the future of this forum... now that the 360's lineup is junk I think Lems will mistakingly put all of their focus on this 'thing'.

What have you become lems? What have you become?

im not a lemm or a %@#$%#$%#$ cow im just saying that im impressed on MS's new natal project while i fell asleep the rest of all 3 e3

you know, i'd like to see some games that will support it before jumping to any conclusions. it looked like they threw that demo together after seeing MS's motion camera, you know, in a span of 24 hours.

And yet Sony's presentation ended up being 10x more effective. :D

Since I'm open-minded towards motion control (though I don't Sixaxis too much) and I hate when people trash it for being "simple" (as if it was supposed to complex right off the bat), I'll say that Sony having motion control more like the Wii's is a good thing. There's nothing wrong with chasing some of that casual market.

On the other hand, Sony's motion control has a little bit of a been there, done that kind of vibe to it.

All the motion controls look great, but I think im going to wait till I see some games using the tech. But both Sony and MS are confused. They aren't going to draw in Nintendo's casual crowd. Sure the Wiimote played a large part in Wii's success, but the most important factor was the cheap price AND the fact that the Wiimote is standard. I doubt there is a casual out there willing to buy accessories for a console :P

They're not going to draw in all of Nintendo's casual crowd. But they'll draw in some of it. They better just hope it'senough to justify the production costs of this stuff.

I can say I'm a sony fanboy, but I must admit in my position that the motion controller is just plain stupid. If sony is going to further develop this thing, nobody is going to stop them, but at least I'll stay away from it thank you very much.

PSdual_wielder

You didn't get the fanboy memo? As a Sony fanboy you're supposed to hype to all ends and tellevery one ittriumphs everything, it's the Sony way.

I dont think they'll draw any of it. I dont think they have a clue what makes the Wii so successful, and I think they'll be scratching their heads trying to figure it out what it is when their motion controllers are left sitting on store shelves.

Natal will be great for some sports and maybe for some other games like fighting, but not for shooters, rpg's, adventure games and other games.

A shooter won't be good on Natal because unless you want to run in place and hold an invisible gun.

Sony's will be towards hardcore gamers and, Natal's more towards causal gamers.

Natal is the way more advanced tech, and it looks really nice. That said, I felt that Sony's wand(s) could be applied with greater success to games so they win in application.

I'm really excited about Sony's motion controls. It has the biggest potential to be implemented in ACTUAL games, and not some sports mini games.

I was really impressed at the tech demo of the new Sony controller, the potential for its games is immense and as a big LBP fan, the new game by Media Molecule looks good too. It's a shame that no footage of Heavy Rain was shown though.

I liked it... but it doesn't seem much better then Wiimotion plus... and you don't have to have a wonky light on the top for wii motion plus to work.

GundamGuy0
Indeed, it will be interesting to see if either can set themselves apart. For Natal, it is what it is, for casuals. I wasn't a fan of the light on Sony's controller either. My Guess is, they change that. But the most important thing to pay attention to is that both the wii-motion-plus and Sony's motion contoller allow you to have some controller in your hand to control character's feet. This lends the techs to be used in more traditional games instead of mini-games made for the tech.

LOL, are you serious. The glow motion that sony showed, showed cased real movement in a 3d enviroment. While Natal didn't show any of that, the person was either static or not even in the picture. Example mylo, the kid moved so you moved, it had nothing to do with the camera at all besides scanning the picture she drew. Basically all of Sony's demo had to deal with movement in a 3d enviroment, such as building with the blocks and walking around in that virtual room with the flash light. Also like to state that Sony did give a first half of next year release date, while MS's guy laughed at a 09 release and had nothing to say or wanted to do with saying a 2010 release for Natal. Yall guys watched to much with your eyes and not with your brains for sure. I had just told a guy monday night that MS's was cool and all but it wasn't precise nor was it able to function in a virtual world. And BAM Sony show cases just that and shows how it would work for Hard core games aswell, basically just slapping around MS's demo. Also the facial reconigtion and voice reconigtion isn't nothing but software, inwhich Sony could also add to the ps3 to accomodate the other nifty things lol. All the while MS slinging paint with absolutely no percision at all on a wall lol. Oh yea did I mention that guy wrote his name and drew arrows percisely with the glow motion from Sony? :)

what it comes down to for me is what im more likely to use a lot in games not what im just going to do causally. based on that criteria im in favor of sonys motion controller because of the gaming capabilities of it. its very accurate and looks to be able to be maneuvered much better than the wmp so it would be perfect for fighting games, rpgs, shooters, and the perfect star wars game. Natal looks okay but more for causals and im also a sticker for actually holding something while playing not playing with air. lol. Sony's demo was more impressive and had more possibilities to me and its farther behind in dev than the other 2 so it has more potential also.

This is getting pathetic, Sony's was just Wii motion plus! Just because they had a cool tech demo to show it off and they used 2 at one point doesn't make it any different, it's just motion plus but more expensive and not coming out for a year +, yeah awesome.

Sony's motion controls were tech demos. I really don't see it coming out anytime soon. Its probably 2 years away from being retail. Anyone else remember the Tank tech demo they showed with the Playstation Eye? Nothing ever came about from that. It is interesting to see the things they can do with the Playstation Eye, but a lot of the stuff will just remain tech demos.

I think they will try to get this out, but we will be seeing it again at next E3, and then it probably won't release until the following year.

They also said the real product won't look like that, that these were engineering prototypes they are using. Personally I was impressed by the Sony display, it really showed what I was hoping the Wii controls would be like all along. What also impressed me was that they showed how it could be used in real games right now.

I can see why people say Sony ripped off the Wiimote, because it basically is the same exact thing. However, Natal and Eye Toy are completely different. Eye Toy can only detect movement, and nothing more. Natal does a lot more than that.

Natal is really interesting but I don't see how it could be used for any game that requires analog control. That said, it has the potential to invent new genres of games.

Sony's wasn't that interesting to me. You'd have to buy the camera and the controller so its going to be quite expensive. Plus, it doesn't look much better than motion+ in its current state. They even demo'd some of the same stuff Nintendo did! Then they had the tamarity to say "No other console can control RTS like this" when Wii has been able to do the exact same thing since launch.

I HATE MOTION CONTROL!!!

This. Motion control can all go to Hell.

You know, Project Natal looked the most impressive to me, Sony simply looked completely rushed and unprepared. With that said, I agree, I dont like motion controls. If it gets to the point where I have to use THIS crap to play Gears, Halo, Mass Effect, etc... then I am done with gaming.

you know, i'd like to see some games that will support it before jumping to any conclusions. it looked like they threw that demo together after seeing MS's motion camera, you know, in a span of 24 hours.

munu9
Their demo seemed too staged and planned for it to be just a 24 thing imo. At worst I think they already had it in mind but decided not to show it at E3 but changed their minds when they saw that MS was doing it, too.

I agree, to a degree. While Sonys seemed a bit... ah... unprofessional, and not nearly as slickly presented, seeing it all demoed live, with an array of possibilities was better than watching a showreel of actors pretending to be a family. I dislike Sony showreeling their games though.... clustering footage into one really loses the impact of certain titles... they did the motion control demo well though. However MS's presentation of their new tech was at such a higher standard......

I liked it... but it doesn't seem much better then Wiimotion plus... and you don't have to have a wonky light on the top for wii motion plus to work.

They also said the real product won't look like that, that these were engineering prototypes they are using. Personally I was impressed by the Sony display, it really showed what I was hoping the Wii controls would be like all along. What also impressed me was that they showed how it could be used in real games right now.

they could have showed wiisports and resort because that was pretty much it.

So how will a controller and natal be used together hypothetically?

Yeah, again I think sony is going for a more hardcore audience. Natal and the wii in general really exude casual-ness. The sony motion thing doesn't seem as geared toward casuals munu9
I agree. Sony wins because they're performance simply outclassed the other 2. They did it all live. Real 1 to 1 motion capture that was really accurate and really fast. I liked how it was light hearted with the demonstrator joking around and hitting tennis balls with the virtual racket. Eitherways, all 3 were pretty good, Microsoft seemed pretty cool with the Natal at first, then Nintendo continued with their Motion Plus, and Sony was like a perfect blend of the two. The same Eye Toy camera thing and then with the baton/remote things.

say your playing a fps with a normal controller you could lean in reality to lean around a corner. or say a command to your squad etc
