*YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWN* is what i think of this and all graphics comparision threads... seriously at this point in this gen it's just nitpicking.

I remember when it used to be about you know... the games!!
Long time no see.
Indeed long time no see :D been busy really...on subject it's gotten to the point where unless it's really terrible and noticeably worse, graphics are so good now that looking for a fault on the pixel level is absolutely rediculous...
I finally bought the retail version of RE5 so I can finally compare the final versions of RE5 and the final version of KZ2 for myself. And I have to say, I think overall RE5 is the better game visually.
Of all the games this generation that I've watched HD Trailers for on my computer RE5 is the only one that has lived up to the expectations for me. When I watched a few videos of KZ2 and looked at the screenshots of KZ2, I originally thought that the 360 had finally met its match. But then my cousin showed me more videos that he downloaded via the PSN Store on his PS3, once I saw those, I was relieved. KZ2 is basically COD4/5 with lots of motion blur. Based on the trailers I had seen on my computers, I was truly expecting to be blown away... I wasn't.
But when I booted up RE5 the game looked exactly like I expected it to look like based on the trailers I had watched. Unlike every other current gen game I've played so far. The actual game surpassed the trailers. Other games like MGS4, Gears 2, Halo 3, KZ2, had totally wowed me with their trailers, but every time I booted each of those games up, I was just slightly disappointed. I mean, those games aren't ugly by any means, but somehow they just didn't seem as good looking as the trailers. This wasn't the case with RE5, the texture, lighting, etc are amazing, and it doesn't have an over reliance on motion blur to smooth out animations like KZ2. That said, KZ2 does still have the better animations, but that is the only area where I think KZ2 beats RE5, and not by that much.
Actually, I thought Fear 2 came pretty close the KZ2 level of graphics. If only it had more level variety.
And everyone knows, graphics don't make a great game, I personally prefer single player, though I do have Xbox live and have been a online PC Gamer since the Rainbow Six days. I still prefer single player mode, and this category is no contest, KZ2's single player was totally forgettable, I don't really remember much of it anymore. But I can't wait to play RE5 again once I beat it.
I don't know or care whats going on under the hood. RE5 just looks better to me. The levels where the sun is setting, or the setting for the last boss fight. RE5 really looks great. Cutscenes are unmatched by anything i've seen including crysis (dx9 custom cfg on a 8800gt).
You are going by character models, because that's the only things visually impressive about the game, same with MGS4. Honestly swear, some textures could have been taken directly from RE4's, they were that bad. K2's character models aren't as detailed as RE5, but come close, overall K2 in every graphical department beats RE5, and comes close character model wise..so in the end, K2 is technically and visually superior. But i can see if you prefer the visual style of RE5.I finally bought the retail version of RE5 so I can finally compare the final versions of RE5 and the final version of KZ2 for myself. Typical response from you, Killzone 2 from a tech standpoint owns RE5RE5 has a better presentation overall. Best character models on consoles this gen.
BioShockOwnz
Ill have to say KZ2.
The first levels in KZ2 are a bit boringbut the game keeps getting more and more impressive the more you progress. Its amazing.
Last night when i was playing it was really immersive. Felt real.

That won't work because they would find the worst screenshots from each game to make it look bad.Screenshot wars, plz.

Argue from a technical standpoint only (which on SW means whatever system you own). But good for a larf.

why dont u compare RE5 and Uncharted would make more sens
the current ranking of best graphics are:
- Killzone 2
- Crysis
- Uncharted 2 (Soon)
- Resident Evil 5
resident evil 5 can be compared to uncharted 2 and possibly crysis is some aspects (like models), but it's laughable comparing re5 to killzone 2.
Himly
lol it goes
1. Crysis / Crysis Warhead
2. Killzon 2 / Resident Evil 5 (pretty much tied)
3. Gears of War 2
4. Uncharted
5. Gears of War
however if I put more PC exclusives in there, then a console game wouldn't make the top 5.
the current ranking of best graphics are:
- Crysis
- Killzone 2
- Uncharted 2 (Soon)
- Resident Evil 5

Somewhat fixed. (should be all PC games for this list)
And technically Crysis is superior to pretty much everything.
I just rented KZ2 a couple of days ago, and while the game looks really good, i was expecting more iwth all of the hoopla about it. I am very impressed with the lighting, but the textures didn't look nearly as good as those used in Gears 1, IMO. I also wonder about the staying power of the game (as far a playability). All the levels feel the same except with different color filters and and lights (the Acedemy is by far my favorite map). They really need to provide a map in the forest and one in the mountains with snow.
You seriously ranked Killzone 2 above Crysis? :|the current ranking of best graphics are:

Lighting: Killzone 2
Animations: Killzone 2
Polygon Counts: Killzone 2
Particle Effects: Killzone 2
Load Times: Killzone 2
Textures: Tied. Both have their strong points and weak points depending where you look.
Screenshots: Resident Evil 5
In Motion: Killzone 2
.....I just dont see how anyone can sit here and say that technically, Resident Evil 5 has better graphics than Killzone 2. While you might prefer the more colorful, more crisp look of RE5 over KZ2, that doesn't mean its more advanced. The engine for Killzone 2 simply wipes the floor with Resident Evil 5.
Suljeva Village (level with the snipers) in motion simply put the game over the top for me. That is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen on a console.
