HALO 3 by a longshot. May not get the greatest reviews, but still, MGS4, Mario Galaxy, ect. will be blown out of the water when Halo 3 comes out due to propaganda. (I can't wait for Mario Galaxy and MGS4, but I must say I can't wait for Halo3, it will be awesome.)Squall18

I agree there's a lot of competition but if this game is as good as KOTOR or better it should win GOTY. KOTOR was so freaking amazing I wouldn't be surprised at all if it did win

But here's some of the major contenders for GOTY imo:

• Spore
• Mass Effect
• Crysis
• Bioshock
• Hellgate London (probably slim)

These are all original titles that are innovating at least a little bit. And innovating a TON in the case of Spore. Halo 3 is just another Halo game, following the same Halo formula with a couple of minor gameplay changes, which is why I honestly don't think it has a chance up against these other, much more original titles. Halo has also never won a GOTY award at Gamespot. I personally feel even even Unreal Tournament 3 has a better chance at GOTY than Halo 3 does.

I don't have a PS3 so I haven't followed too many games on that side. I'm sure there's some contenders on that platform too. These were just a few games off the top of my head.

Edit: Quake Wars probably deserves to be up there too.

the new mgs is surposed to be pretty differnt, i wouldnt say it has no chance.(but id say crysis to win)

Simply because its a game like no other.  I dont think there is any genere that spore can possibly fit into.

Those are my GOTY contenders.  Mass Effect certainly has a really good chance of getting it, but right now it's too early to tell.
