Source: Sony Planning Big PS4 Reveal Before E3

Expect a big announcement from Sony about its next-gen PlayStation 4 console this month or possibly in early May, a source familiar with the company's marketing strategy told PCMag this week.

Sony already revealed some PlayStation 4 specs at a February event in which the company unveiled the console's controller (pictured) and a stereo camera with motion capture capabilities, but not, to the chagrin of gamers everywhere, the PS4 itself.

But Sony may be parceling out information about its coming game console to build up buzz, according to the source. Some industry watchers anticipated another reveal or at least some PS4 news at last week's Game Developer Conference, but the company only tipped some details about the underlying hardware, Ars Technicareported.

They may just do a similar thing that nintendo did at e3 2012 where they had a nintendo direct to announce things that would have taken up precious time during the main conference. If this is true then I hope they talk about PS+, the new headset, and maybe some gameplay of infamous second son.

Don't care what Sony does anymore. However is MS impresses me I'll roll Next Xbox and Wii U.

That would be wise of Sony to do that so that gaming news outlets won't be flooded with MS propaganda in the weeks prior to E3. Having the PS4 fully revealed as well as additional games will keep the spotlight off of MS

If it's a little bit after MS's announcement/reveal, it makes sense. 

Inevitably, MS will garner some buzz when they show off the next Xbox, so if Sony shows the rest of what they have before E3, that'll kill it a little bit and then E3 can just be a big hands on and showing off games fest.

Hmm. Interesting!

To go off your point, I think it might be SCE getting tips that MS would do a pre-event show. By getting more PS4 chat leading up to the event (while not spoiling eveything) Sony would be balancing the internet chatter going on in the lead up to E3 pressers.

Awesome Sony knows what they are doing and are going to make the PS4 awesome.

I think it'll be more hardware stuff, maybe a bit on the OS, Vita remote play, expand on the controller, some online stuff (detail of the tier system maybe?) and some social media stuff. Should leave more time to focus on games at E3. No doubt they'll expand on and flaunt their specs if they're stronger than what MS show at their reveal.

Another reveal? Seems like Sony wants to counter any hype generated by the next Xbox by having another showing. In any case, I'm all for it.

To be fair, you could make an argument for both sides.

We'll find out once MS reveals I guess. 

Well if Microsoft at least matches up to PS4.. then next gen is well truly all about having the PS4, 720 and PC.

I think it's a smart move on their part. Take as much attention away from the competition.

true, just like alot of cows in systemwars as well who are scared sh&*tless, lol. I mean i love the desperation they show, last gen really hurt them badly, lots of talk they didnt back up, so now they are just doing it even more, and praying that the 720 comes out weak, which, it wont. Its going to be great and it will hold its market share this gen, unlike Sony last gen who lost NA the number 1 market to MSFt and UK as well.
