In the wider meta 'meta-game' everytime one site gives a Wii game a 9 another site will give it a 5 or 6. Part of the rules. That's why nearly all Wii games end up with 'Mixed or Average Reviews' on Metacritic. Nearly always the former.

You do know Little King Story, NSMBW, Silent Hill, Punch-Out and Boom Blox all recieved some AAA reviews?
In terms of ownage here, it means nothing untill GS scores it AAA.
They were freaking out. I read like 5 threads for Tatsunoko and 5 for No more Heroes 2. But IGN is a garbage site with garbae reviewers so its not like their word means anything anyway.

You beat me to the punch.
We are all waiting for Gamespot's review. :P
Because I pay more attention to word-of-mouth opinions from friends and family than I do to scores from reviewers that I do not personally know. I don't visit Gamespot to look at scores. I'm here for articles and news relating to the games that might interest me. My favorite reviews are those without scores. I just don't think that you can take something as intangible as a game experience and just slap a number on it to convey its value. Ideally, a review should provide a description of the pros & cons and allow the reader to decide what value a title might have to him or her.

Only part of cows/lemmings are waiting for gamespot. They conveniently cling to a rule pulled up from their behind that gamespot scores are the only ones that 'count'. Sorry but that game is purely opportunistic. The 'freaking out' consisted of like 5 threads of which 3 had what, 30 posts of people telling that there was already a thread? There were 2 main threads but they weren't big either. You are pulling things out of proportion. The last remaining sheep and it's defenders will act like it's because sheep are somehow better gamers than cows/lemmings. They'll say because it's not all about AAA's and 'they care more about great games' and something cliche along those lines.
But the truth is there's barely a sheep population on these boards anymore so that's why theres no topics about the AAA.

probably becouse they are playing games, insted of arguing about them :P
There are no sheep left. They all either have another console, a good PC, or are smart enough to realize that arguing about games is a waste of time. :P
well no duh, but usually the fanboys would still freak out over something like this If they came in people would say something along the lines of, "It's a Wii game so it still sucks."[QUOTE="shadow_hosi"]there's more to games than AAADycras
You answered your own question. They just got a AA from ign for no more heroes 2 when last time they gave an A while gamespot gave a AAA (which is good news for them), and now tatsunoko vs capcom got a AAA which is something they rarely get to see, so why aren't they freaking out?

What I don't get is how you could possibly say that scores are completely meaningless in the context of System Wars. Maybe you don't need to use any one site, but to denounce all of them at once (even aggregate sites like GameRankings and Metacritic) is absolutely ludicrous. Since I hear this a lot from Wii fanboys, it just sounds like a poor excuse to defend how the games on the Wii have so much lower standards than those on other systems (handhelds and PC included).
It is fine if you personally don't use them at all, but in this forum and when speaking to other people about which game is better, this is the best (albeit flawed) tool we have to judge the quality of a game. Most of these sites are professionally run and have very select criteria for what is an AAA game as opposed to AA and they review hundreds, if not thousands of games and if you have the audacity to say that their reviews (even if averaged on Metacritic or GR) is completly irrelevant, then you better have a good explanation as to why they are irrelevant unless it is just as a I stated and you are merely trying to save face for your system of choice.

the standard argument is geting as old as the nostalgia argument
the truth behind this is that when this gen started, most gamers would say "wow that looks good for a wii game"
when the gameing community bacame obsessed with the technical side of graphics
the saying turned into "wow thats good for a wii game"
the whole setup dosent change the fact that mario galaxy blews every game out of the water review wise this gen.
or the fact that Okami as a ps2 game looks as good as games released this gen
HD might make the visuals more clear and sharp, but HD isnt a art direction
One because there are no sheep around, two because it doesn't count until GS reviews it.

Using my staggering intellect and my 1337 lurking skills, I have been able to formulate this pattern. Wii Fanboys (keyword: fanboys) usually come out when:
I am not trying to belittle the Wii, I think it is a decent console, but I get really irritated how certain people here try to blow these things off and act as if the Wii were a flawless system.

Every system has a flaw, but the thing that ticks me off is the amount of Wii haters (not you) here in SW. They absolutely do not know what they are talking about.

Super Mario Galaxy, even if it gets perfect scores at every site, is not enough to support a console. Whether it be on the Wii or some other console, graphics or even a great artstyIe does not necessarily mean that it will be a good game. Graphics are only part of the picture, what I am concerned about is both the quantity and supposed quality of these Wii games. Nintendo first party support hasn't been as great as previous gens (in sheer number of games) and is nowhere near enough to support a console single-handedly. As for the clueless third-parties on the system, every time they decide to release a Wii title, there is almost always a catch.
For example, we are getting a new Resident Evil game! Oh, it's a rail shooter.
Cool, Modern Warfare Reflex is coming to Wii! Oh, it's two years late and is still missng modes.
etc. etc. etc.

You can't account for all of the fanboys out there, but you should pay attention to the people that are against the Wii and actually justify their opinion.
the two games are great for their console but they kniow putting them side by side next to ME2, Uncharted, and AC2..... the game is like a little toddler next to Master Chief Well, at least that is what i find! Their opinion never makes sense or it has been refuted several times. And Modern Warfare Reflex isn't missing any maps or modes, that is why I bought it

thats what your summing up right now, 1 part of the picture
why do you think people like the wii then?
if it was that bad it would never have sold milions.
you can argue as much as you want, but you wont change the fact that people have diffrent tastes
some like generic shooters, some like rehased sequels, like zelda, call of duty or god of war
the things we are defending are as bad as the things we hate,
its all just 1 opinion, 1 argument for, 1 argument agenst
Because I haven't even played either of them yet (getting both on tuesday)
Then, if someone makes a thread about how awesome they are, I might comment
i don't know why people care about scores, i just rely on gameplay videos to determine if i'll like the game enough to get it. themagicbum9720I dunno. A 5.0 is a pretty good way for me to avoid a broken game. Speaking as a child of the NES days where my parents purchased a lot of crap I am very happy reviews and scores exist to help me avoid garbage.
Wii owners buy games, not scores. They're not like lemmings and cows.Pices
Nice generalization. Clearly,360 and PS3 owners buy scores, not games.

And why do I see cows and lemmings brag about scores the whole time? More AAAs=more games. thats why there has only been 1 game on the wii in the past 2 yearsthe problem is one site can score a Wii game a 5 while the other will score the same game in the 7 8 or even 9's. You don't see that on other platforms.VideoGameGuy
You do, especially on the PC, but seldom for the big mainstream titles.
There are two theories here.
Either there are certain people who score Wii games badly (not a site based prejudice, but individual reviewers). This doesn't explain the mixed reviews that some non-mainstream titles get on the PC.
Or there is a sort of game site consensus about what sort of game is 'good'. Some suggest pay-offs or fear of losing advertising, but I think it is more subconcious than that.
Controller issues can play a part with Motion Controls, but this is unprofessional. I can't play rythm games so I wouldn't review them. When you see the same Wii game lauded and condemned for its motion controls 'lazy' is the word that comes to mind.
If someone did a list of every Wii game that recieved a 9/10 somewhere respectable then I think it would stack up pretty well against other systems.

At least I don't, no one should...So you admit that there are Wii owners that do brag?
It is the curse of third party developers on the Wii. Make a good game? Good luck getting people to buy it.VandalvideoIf the developers actually advertise the games will sell better. 360 and PS3 games the developers advertise their own games but then when those same developers make Wii games they refuse to advertise.

Please, sheep would be doing the same thing if they had the games to brag about. You are already seeing this with the IGN reviews of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and No More Heroes 2.
Well, bragging in the first place is wrong but i can see why they're doing it because fanboys keep on bashing the WiiPlease Log In to post.
