So......Xbox One S is smaller than the PS4 (pics included)

Was waiting for side by side comparison pics with PS4. At E3 all we got were comparisons with the old Xbox One. Even I didnt realize the system was this small.

I wonder will Sony respond with slim of their own. Gamers are buying the slim and PS4 is sliding. Sony try to combat that or will they just go all out with the Neo for this year?

Sony has been quiet for awhile they stopped bragging about NPD sales for a few months now. I think the Scorpio announcement caught them off guard and they are in their offices working out what to do?

I would not blame them when the entire company future depends on one thing Playstation. Any downturn in fortunes with it they are screwed.

Doesn't really matter, but it looks like pretty much the same size as the PS4 in those pics.

I knew it was small but with the available media getting an actual size reference wasn't working, that's pretty small.

Yet not much less powerful, and has more features, so that doesn't make sense.

The dumbest thing they could do is go into reactionary mode and make a big mistake in the process. Like rushing the release of better tech that breaks when in consumer hands.

They have lot to think about. Good news for Playstation fans least they are actually thinking about the best way to respond. I know some people believe Neo will come out this year, i not so sure, they may delay till next year? Either way we will find out. Playstation fanboys will never buy xbox so they'll always have people picking to buy Playstation know matter what. I just think the Neo launching this year, helps xbox.

Seriously though this is expected of a slim model. I'm more surprised that MS finally put the power supply inside of the system. Let's see what the next PS4 will look like,

ironically, if you have a 4KTV, the Xbox One S would be the more powerful choice (in terms of perception anyway).. 4K upscaling for games coupled with HDR, not to mention the UHD bluray drive if you're into movies.. None of which is on the "more powerful" PS4..

Of course the Neo is coming out at some point but that's gonna be a $399 vs $299 discussion on price of admission for two consoles that will both be doing 4K upscaling.. As such, I'm really curious to see how the market responds to the Xbox One S..

I visited the Microsoft Store and saw one in a display case, they also had an arrangement of the made to order XB1 controllers as well, looks great

asked the girl working there if she knew of plans for a trade in upgrade to the S models and she said not at this time but she's confident they'll probably announce something in the coming weeks to help shift units

Not to mention, this Xbox One S is the best looking console this gen now too. It's just sexy as all hell. Puts the door wedge POS PSbore to shame and the 80's VCR X1 to shame.

I hope Sony does something to try and top this, because the PSbore is embarrassing. Gonna be hard to top this Xbox One S sex machine.

The design is very uninspired. I mean, granted, it's a game machine we tend to stick somewhere and ever hardly look at. It's ultimately no big deal, but that is one ugly piece of electronics.

If it had Playstation logo it be the nicest thing ever, i bet.

44 million was shipped numbers. Sony seems to be not saying sold anymore wonder why? PS4 sales came in first three years and won because the machine was more powerful. True, but Sony won on nothing but false promises that gamers bought into. Using the actual console MS is more customer friendly and does not charge people for games they own and we get free dlc with games we buy from them.

PS4 won this gen, but slim will sell.

I am seeing a lot of PS fan all of a sudden saying things like:

• Size matters! (Xbox One S is now smaller than the PS4). Now size doesn't matter!
• Cross platform matters! (Xbox One S is now cross platform with PC's, mobile and all consoles). Now cross platform was never wanted!
• Performance matters! (Xbox One Scorpio performance drop kicks NEO into next week). Now performance doesn't matter!
• Play Anywhere with PS3 and Steam matters (Steam relationship dropped, Xbox releases Play Anywhere). Now play anywhere doesn't matter!
• Paying for multiplayer should be free! (PS goes to pay for multiplayer). PSN is the best!

At least Sony announces some type of numbers. Wonder why MS doesn't announce any? And who knows if the One S will sell well....MS won't announce anything.

Why else they know fanboys talk shit on websites, they know there behind, and just want people to talk about the good of xbox then listen to PS4 fanboys talk about hardware and ignore other things that truly matter.

But don't you think MS is afraid of Sony's dominance in the console market? I mean MS quit announcing sold numbers, and they had to release two new consoles to steal back some positive attention. It's like MS retreated back to their offices to figure out what to do halfway through this gen or something.

I doubt MS is scared, considering this is their best selling Xbox to date.

@kvally: But they are last in every market they are in other than desktop computers and that is a shrinking business. Phones, tablets, and now consoles are dominated by companies other than MS. I guarantee MS is shaking in their boots, thus the whole re-organizing into UWP.

Sony is not dominant half the userbase play offline so MS truly has nothing to fear.

@loe12k: ummmm Sony in dominant. MS would kill for their playstation numbers. And please you have no idea if "half" of the user base only plays offline. There is no proof. Even if they don't have PS+ you can still use netflix, PS Vue, PS Music, PS Now, and buy and rent movies from the PS Store.

That's because MS sucks, lol! As does Sony. But yeah, MS isn't shaking with record Xbox sales, record Xbox Live numbers and now record Windows adoption. I am glad the MS has competition now. They used to the the 800 pound gorilla with a huge monopoly. Now they have been put in their place.

Sony would be closed today if not for the Playstation. Yet another company that is being dominated by all other companies other than their console business. Sony is now trailing in nearly every product it sells and dropping. I think Sony is shaking in their boots even more.

They would like to have bigger install base so more people buy games from them. But they are doing fine with xbox live is very popular.

You have to a subscription on PS4 to try multiplayer games, so i do know 19 million gamers are offline. Sony said they only have 21million subs.

@kvally: MS and Sony are companies from an age without the internet and both are struggling right now to adapt and compete with changing markets.

What killed Sony was missing the mp3 train. They were in perfect position with the walkman brand and blew it. Apple stepped in with the Ipod and it was over.

MS missed the search engine opportunity to google. Now google is the world leader in software and services and MS has fallen behind.

If neither company adapts both are screwed.

@loe12k: But they aren't "offline" though. They can still buy digital content and services from the PS store without a subscription. That's still money generated and is a positive. Like I said you don't have any numbers that tell of online use of PS consoles.

Ok, so it´s smaller than the PoS4, good but still, the PS4 is pretty much a size I like, the important thing for me is that it´s a lot smaller than the 80´s sized VCR original extra fat. I certainly hope it remains as quiet as the fat and it´s not a friggin, almost PS2 fat, noisy PS4, man you can hear mine 20 ft away in some games ( pretty much like a F18 ready to take off from the deck of the Nimitz ).

So is it worth just picking a old X1 now for cheap?

Looks slightly smaller. The vent on top ruins the look but I bet it won't be near as hot and loud as my PS4.
