Looks as if Conviction is going to be crap of the same caliber as Assassin's Creed, if that's the case there's no comparison.agreed and im not a big fan of Spilner Cell games imo i think MGS help start the Splinter cell series
Altho it's also possible, tho highly unlikely, for MGS4 to be screwed up in one way or another too.

Metal Gear Solid 4 for me.. of course that's only which one i'm more hyped for as i've (obviously) never played either :)
I've never cared that much for Splinter Cell, while metal gear i absolutly love. It's so crazy! I bought a PS2 for metal gear, and i'm very thankful to have portable ops for my brand new PSP.. MGS4 will be the game that makes me get a PS3 i'm sure, if i don't cave earlier(and believe me, i want to. But money is an issue)
Stop comparing the two games just because they are loosely in the same genre. Yes, you can compare Halo3 and CoD4 because they are both FPS but these games are completley different. Splinter cell is all about stealth while MGS is more about stealth/action.
Anyones I prefer MGS games greatly. Ive played splinter cell, and theyre too boring with stay in the shadow and stuff. MGS is a lot funner.

they are even harder to compare now, seeing as the enviorments from each that we have seen so far are polar opposites. MGS4 is about stealth in a raging battlefieldfull of soldiers fighting each other, and SC: Conviction is about blending into civilian enviorments interspersed with action straight out of "The Bourne Identity".

EXACTLY!!!
Splinter Cell. Metal Gear games are just too ridiculous for me, and they constantly interrupt you with cutscenes.lowe0
... cutscenes that can be skipped by the player anytime. Splinter Cell doesn't have much of a better alternative: the unskippable in-game story sequences. you sit in a dark corner, listening to the bad guys detail their evil plans, and you can't move an inch until they all walk out of the room. you can't skip that, you have to sit there, the exact same way, every single time you play through it.

i liked asswassins cweed too....
MGS just has more gameplay value. You can play through the games a dozen different ways. It's all about experimenting and having fun. Mordred19
Exactly, I found Splinter Cell more like Hitman style "do it our way or you fail" type gameplay. You don't have as much freedom as you do in MGS games.
Both games are suppose to be stealth but with these games they're trying out new things and stepping out of that genre, mixing it up with different genres. From what I've seen MGS4 will incorporate some FPS features and Conviction will incorporate some Open World game play. So we'll see how it turns out.
I was trashing splinter cell conviction yesterday. So, for this poll, i'll give Splinter cell conviction gets my sympathy vote.:)
Splinter Cell - Weak story, lame main character, stupid A.I., boring gameplay, and yawn-inducing stealth. But pretty fun online. :D
Metal Gear Solid - Riveting story, one of the most badass main characters in gaming history, smart A.I., have-it-your-way gameplay, and action-oriented, crazy-ass stealth/action gameplay.
MGS4 vs. Splinter Cell 5? Seriously? Seems like a total no-brainer to me... MGS4 all the way. Splinter Cell games have failed in Single Player campaigns.

Since when does MSG have great AI? Im petty sure the AI in splinter cell is much better then MSG.

MGS for me...played through all the MGS's, its the best game ever created...its got good cinematics, good graphics, a brilliant story and characters that you either love or hate to death yet you still enjoy what they bring to the game and plot because they are very interesting. the gameplay is awesome, obviously...it has a nice stealth/action/survival kinda gameplay. and i found the odd jokes here and their in the games very amusing :). i could probably keep on talking about the series, but i dont wanna bore anyone lol.
im expecting the same from MGS4, and from what ive seen im going to be getting exactly that and MORE!! :D
The only people who say MGS has got bad AI are the people who havent played them, there some of the best AI out there. How about in MGS2 when they check a room! I was blown away when I first saw that on me brand new PS2. Nothing like that had been done before.
They only say it has bad AI cuse they checked out the 15 gameplay video, and it was on Easy so they bash the AI. Try it on Extreme or Euro Extreme and you will all understand
[QUOTE="ragrdoll21"]MGS4 will wipe the floor with SC5..... no contest! ;)-wii60-
Says the people who are more excited about MGSIV.
