Splinter Cell Delayed Till '09 Officially now!

I don't know about that, I mean from what has been released, the game looked kind of clunky. Then completely abondoning the fact that he was a spy knowing all these super cool techniques and having cool gadgets, to turning him into a hobo guy who throws chairs at guys. Maybe I got the wrong impression off of the little footage released, but I hope they do something to make this game great.

Well I guess when a good game on the 360 that is also on pc scores AAA then it automatically doesn't count for anything because it's multiplat, but when something bad happens(Splinter Cell, Alan Wake), then I guess the 360 is in trouble right? These aren't exclusives getting delayed...only one.

As for the clunky-looking gameplay, that's what I was getting at when I said they may have cancelled it becase of issues "in terms of the AI and interactivity between the player and the world." Because Conviction's gameplay is/was designed around deception and "hiding in plain sight" it would need fairly sophisticated AI, physics and a degree of interactivity rarely seen in games. For example, Ubi showed a video where the player used a pistol to blow up a hot-dog stand in a park to distract some guards, while sneaking away in the confusion (by blending into the crowd a la Assasssin's Creed). Now while I'm certainly not a technical expert, it would take some quality AI to be able to pull stunts like that off (much better than the aforementioned Assassin's Creed). So it's quite possible that the reason for the delay is that Ubi Montreal simply couldn't pull off the gameplay they wanted on the 360.

Yeah, Chaos Theory had the best co-op I've ever played. Then for some idiotic reason they scrapped it in Double Agent, and Conviction looks like a complete rip-off of Hitman and Bourne.

thats definitely a possibility. im so glad theyve scrapped the idea, being a massive fan of pandora tomorrow and chaos theory i am praying they go back to basics and give people what they want - a "this gen" traditional SC game, set some time in between CT and DA (well thats what i want anyway :))

maybe they want to tweak the games setting to something more keeping with the "splinter cell" creative process

send sam fisher to a war torn town in the middle east or something like that... add some Robots, maybe put a bandana on him.

mgs is a nub in stealth compared to splinter cell, mgs is hardly even a stealth game, an action game with stealth elements.

Ya i didn't think of that. But a prequel could work, maybe when he was younger and more agile? I always thought it would be cool to be able to climb anywhere in a game, like Assasins Creed.
