This partciular rehashed thread is no longer necessary......MikeE21286i agree looking forward to the next splinter Cell, but after seeing MGS4, they had to go back to the drawing board.

if i was lead designer i would to
i mean MGS just is Jaw dropping incredible
SC had Great gameplay but i dont know they were making the new one a little to much like Assasins Creed
Metal Gear Solid. Splinter Cell is a very straightforward, albeit well-executed spy game, while the MGS series is more story-based, with more ways of doing things. The gameplay is also more satisfying.Arkthemaniac
quite obvious that you haven't really played a SC game before. While the story may be more straight forward it still is every bit as good in it's own right. Unlike in MGS where they take you out of the gameplay elements to further the story during a mission, SC moves the story forward WHILE the game plays out. Only between levels does the game EVER switch over to cutscenes. As for saying that SC not having as many ways to go about playing them I have to laugh at that. Both games are extremely linear with out a doubt, but neither one has the leg up in this aspect. I couldn't tell you how many different ways I've played out a single mission in the SC franchis. I can however tell you that with MGS I felt that there was only one real way to complete certain areas of the game with no other options available. What each game does, it does very well. SC offers various routes, play styles and ways of carrying out one tasks where as MGS offers one EXTREMELY well done approach (usually one option....very rarely is there more).
X-bots have have fun with conviction..we get MGS4..you guys mind as well go back to the drawing board.T3h_M3tal_Biggz
I didn't start this thread to get idiotic fanboy comments.
MGS makes my brain hurt with how stupid it is. Splinter Cell doesn't.
Splinter Cell is like playing a spy thriller novel. MGS is like playing an anime who's producer was on shrooms at the time.
Put simply, SC is stealth action for grown-ups. MGS is stealth action for pre-teens and idiots.

that's true, lol.
Metal Gear Solid is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better then SC. Nit pick all you want you have to be ignorant not to give credit to what MGS has done in the gaming world, sc is just another franchise, MGS redifined what immersive stealth action could be, it's story redifined what story driven games could be, it's character devolpment, production values, technical accomplishments. To even consider putting SC at MGS's level is insulting.Eddie-Vedder
they were neck and neck with the scores until mgs4 came out.... sc 8.6 sc 2 9.1 sc 3 8.6 sc 4 8.5: mgs 8.5 mgs2 9.7 mgs3 8.7 mgs4 10

Rofl.
MGS is a much better well rounded game in my opinion. SC focuses more on stealth but that doesnt necessarily make it a better game or even better stealth game. MGS is all about options, you can go through the entire game without killing anyone except the bosses or you can try to gun your way out, it doesnt work that well.
MGS4 especially has some more stealth oriented moments like tracking and following certain people.

you can't just put numbers side by side and compare the 2, learn2contextualize. And for the record that 8.5 for MGS1 from gamespot is one the worst review scores they have ever given. Look at Metacritic for example (94) or gamerrankings(93.5), MGS changed the way I saw gaming, created a HUGE legion of fans, the game was and still is a mark in gamings history. MGS2 is like the 17th best reviewed game on gamerrankings, also got AMAZING reviews, MGS3 was killer, one of the best stories ever told in a game imo, and now MGS4...

I actually agree. with you. But if SC is a popcorn flick, MGS is a straight-to-DVD B-movie.[QUOTE="skrat_01"][QUOTE="UnnDunn"]Splinter Cell is like a dumb popcorn thriller.MGS makes my brain hurt with how stupid it is. Splinter Cell doesn't.

I actually agree. with you. But if SC is a popcorn flick, MGS is a straight-to-DVD B-movie.Sorry, SC with its lack of story and cut and paste scenerios get very old very fast. SC: DA was a horrible game where I would at a moments notice be killing hispanics on a boat or soldiers in Alaska or wherever that snowy place was. It was very boring and the characters are bland with little to no character development. There is no spy thriller novel there just a generic bad buy and a bunch of missions mashed together to pretend to make a story.
MGS gives you options, a huge cinematic experience, character development and such. Just because MGS is made in Japan doesnt make its story anime like, it has its anime influences as well as its Western influences as well. The Great Escape and Escape from NY were some of Kojima influences and the fact that its sells well WORLDWIDE shows that its appeal is far more then just anime.

And because its so outlandish and different its quite unique, compared to many games on the video game spectrum.[QUOTE="skrat_01"][QUOTE="UnnDunn"]Splinter Cell is like a dumb popcorn thriller.MGS makes my brain hurt with how stupid it is.
