Its hard to choose really. Splinter Cell is no doubt the most realistic, and the storyline is just... genious. Metal Gear of course have less of reality, but its one of the few games that I truely got into. When you stalk your prey from the grass in MGS3.... Man, that was good stuff.... Though, punching through ice and dragging your foe into a watery grave never ceases to make me smirk....
I can't choose honestly.
well... just like what most ppl said. SC series is way better in realism and well in the last one the storyline was pretty good even tho u cant compare it with MGS's story... But, personally i prefer Splinter Cell ... really dont know y when both games are so intrigue
i like splinter cell better myself, i cant stand the way mgs games play. bad camera angles, the way you cant move if youre in iron sight, or the way you cant aim if you want to move and shoot at the same timeso kojima is doin a MGS for the wii ?
the stories are always way nicer, but i personally dont play stealth games for a good storyline

I have played both games a ridiculous number of times. Think I beat MGS3 on Extreme difficulty about 30-35 times, I am dead serious. I played through Splinter Cell CT on XBox about 4 times on Expert difficulty. MGS just has more replay value with all of the secrets and bonuses you can earn. It's also a great game for messing with the gaurds. In my opinion, the only SC game that ever came close to MGS was Chaos Theory, but then Ubisoft blew their momentum and gave the sequel (Double Agent) to Ubisoft Shanghai. Those guys ruined the sequel by "simplifying" the gameplay, and not next-genning it enough. So I think MGS is still king and SC can no longer compete. MGS4 will be the true next-gen stealth game.
On a side note, wouldn't it be awesome if the PS3 got Achievements when MGS4 comes out? Imagine the achievements for that game!
Ok, I have played all splinter cells compared to MGS ... so in fairness I cant say ...
But ever since Splinter Cell DA came out .... WTF.... its the biggest load of cr*p ever! ... having to play two sides etc, confusing storylines ... splinter cell was a series that really didnt need revamp like this at all ... they took out most of the tools on some missions .. "tried" to clean up the interface - when that was totally not needed ...
DA remains on my shelf collecting dust and uncompleted, my biggest gaming mistake yet .... apart from this pathetic sequel, I enjoyed all the others, but Pandora was my favourite
MGS has a very compelling story and great characters.
When it comes to gameplay. Thief owns them both. They both should be referred to as "Tactical Espionage Action" because neither of them really scream "STEALTH" to me.
In Theif, you get into a fire fight, your dead.
