Square enix are very weird.

Did they not just state afew weeks ago that they weren't interested in remaking FF7 and that it would take 10 years even if they wanted to? Why now are they asking if people really want to see a remake when it was something fans have been asking for since they released that FF7 ps3 tech video?

please tell me im not the only one noticing how strangely square enix are acting right now. It's almost as if some members of the team didn't get the memo or something.lawlessx

I guess there is a discussion going on in Square's headquarters and I strongly believe that they have the vision and blueprints for a remake but they are very secretive about it, one time they go and say it's impossible and this time they ask people about it.

It's indeed weird and worth speculating about it.

Do fans really want a FF VII remake out of nostalgia or do they feel that there hasnt been a recent FF game that has surpassed this one?

Instead of a remake, they need to continue the damn story from where it left off in Dirge of Cerberus. The story, in order, goes as:

Before Crisis: FFVII > Crisis Core: FFVII > Final Fantasy VII > FFVII: Advent Children > FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus

So, considering that Dirge of Cerberus, as much of a pos it was, had a secret ending that all but guarantees a sequel of some sort, Squenix should devote their resources into making a TRUE sequel to FFVII. For those of you who've played Crisis Core, I'm sure you'd love to know what becomes of Genesis. If you're interested in the continuation of the story but don't want to play Dirge of Cerberus, I highly recommending checking the secret ending out on youtube.

It's not even the best FF...Far from it.

'WTF are you talking about ??

He meant that FF7 is not the best in the series. And it's not, FF6 is. That said, the first act of FF7, when they are in the city, that is what made the game.

It would be a new game for me, and many people. So I disagree with you there. I see you came back bitter.SaltyMeatballs

$10 gives you access to the original on PSN. It is still as good a game as when it came out. No game "needs" to be "brought to current standards."

I don't understand why it would cost so much. They have the engine and the basic framework. Why would it cost 2.5 times what GTA4 cost to make? I realize that they would essentially be building a completely new game but having the actual design, characters, and story already there should make it cheaper, no?Ibacai

CGI, character modeling, world building, voice acting and other graphical/programmed things are what cost the most money. A story and dialogue don't really cost that much, especially if there is no voice acting.

While I like the idea, I think Square could invest the money on something better.

That they are wasting resources and that if "controls ain't broke don't fix 'em" is a load of BS in my book. I'd love a remake, not just of this game, but all PS1 FFs.

FF7 was terrible in so many ways. Characters and Story being the main offenders.

The Materia System was excellent though. I wouldn't mind them bringing that back in a future game.

I've been staring at your sig for around 5 mins.

I'd love to see it. Don't know why the article suggests only 4-5 million. First one sold almost 10 million.
