Square Enix Hiring For Next Gen- FINAL FANTASY 7 REMAKE INCOMING

Square Enix have apparently started work for the next generation of consoles. This is according to the recruitment page on the SE Website. Here is the actual image you see when you go to the page - I know... 'OMFG!', right? Well... There is no confirmation (obviously) that they are hiring for the Remake itself. But it does say quite a bit about what they want next gen. Above Cloud, we have the words 'Seeking the highest level of talent. New generation game engine development project starts.', which ispretty muchstraight to the point. Below Cloud,it gives thanks to the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, they have provided huge increases in videogame graphics and sound.It also stateshow in the future, Videogames could rival the quality seen in movies. They want a game engine system programmer, 3D graphics core programmer, online system programmer, Windows application programmer, rendering programmer, server/DB programmer, plug-in programmer, technical artist and atechnical writer. The System/Core programmer must have PS3 and/or Xbox 360 development experience with knowlege on SPU's... All positions based in Tokyo. 'At Square Enix, in anticipation of the appearance of next generation platforms, we've started development on a new generation game engine for competing beyond the level of the strong developers throughout the world, and are presently seeking a lot of talent.' As for Cloud himself being up there... I think my thoughts are known, but hey! Let the speculation begin! (Again)Link

It was well liked when it was released and in the years shortly after as well.

'Well liked' doesn't equate to the golden pedestal it has been placed on in the present. It was a good game back then, but now it has been elevated into some sort of gaming nirvana.

These days far more people :roll: at FF7 than praise it, a few people stand out as extreme fanboys, but it certainly is not the norm..

What golden pedestal? The game is constantly hated on and doesn't have much of a vocal fanbase anymore.

im not gonna lie, i hated FF 7 with a passion when it first came out. lol. i tried to play it but just couldnt get into it. i was too stuck on the old SNES FFs. and honestly i doubt i,ll ever play it.

I know this is sort of part of this website, but among gamefaqs or any other place where you can encounter it's fanbase, there isn't much love for FFVII. I see the most love for FFIX. I don't really think that FFVII is that popular anymore.

I know this is sort of part of this website, but among gamefaqs or any other place where you can encounter it's fanbase, there isn't much love for FFVII. I see the most love for FFIX. I don't really think that FFVII is that popular anymore.

I personally see a ton of love for FFX, lots of "game of the decade" type posts on gamefaqs and such. And FFX being my least liked FF, its kind of annoying.

FF7 is still very popular, just because some of you think it's past it's time doesn't really change anything. Of course the longer we go without a remake or port or whatever the more it will fade away, just like any other game. Who knows tho... we're getting perfect dark (more importantly goldeneye MP maps) back :)

i am fine with ff7 the original being released on ps-store. that is good enough for me. how about square enix focusing on their current games for this gen, and here's to hoping that ff13 versus won't have things cut from it due to "production". cheers

NO. A remake would be completely pointless and too time consuming, and we'd all have to hear hardcore FF fans piss and moan about trivial changes they made to the original ("No, Cloud's buster sword is an inch too short!) for years on end.
