Square Enix President Casts Further Doubt On The Last Remnant PS3 Release

"Company president Yoichi Wada cast doubt on the third version of the game ever arriving yesterday, speaking at a shareholders meeting and discussing The Last Remnant's fate."

"According to a recounting of that event, via Andriasang, Square Enix's concerns about profitability may curtail the PS3 port. He reportedly said that the span of time between the Xbox 360/PC and PS3 releases may have an impact on the publisher's decision to get the PlayStation-bound version out the door. The success (or lack thereof) of the original release is also a factor."

Just as well, I've lost all interest in getting it by now. Rather save my money for other RPGs

SE is just tripping all over the place, its what happens when M$ blinds you with money.

I know a ton of people who didn't buy LR because they wanted the PS3 version. Honestly, I don't think they really ever did plan to release it, just said so to keep the PS3 owners from whining about SE not bringing them any games.

Its actually not that bad of a game really it just had some tech issues on the 360 version which hurt the score a bit. I mean look at the PC version it scored an 8.0 here I believe soif SE ever does release the game on the PS3 it would probably becloserto the PC version givin all the extra dev time.

I think you've heard wrong. With it's technical shortcomings polished up, it scored an 8.0, which makes it a "great" RPG. I would desribe it as good, either after a HDD install on 360 or just playing it on PC. It's FAR from Squares worst game in a long time.

An 8.0 is a great score for a JRPG here at GS. GS seems to only like western RPG's and Shooters. with a platformer getting a decent score every once in a while. But for the most part, GS is just a bunch of shooter fanboys..

It was obvious that this game was never comming to the ps3 the fact that square considered the pc over a ps brand console to pprt this game was prove enough for me that this wasn't happening, ms clearly had a deal with square, I mean after ff 13 on xbox you people thought aquare wasn't pro xbox this gen. You really have to give it to ms, they sure are trying to win this gen just by the fact that they are taking all the games that people cared about in the ps2 days, and all the japanese support over the ps brand is sure prove, it may be wrongbysw standars, but when it comes to bussiness it's just pure geniuos brutally awesome if you ask me.

Well, I never played it. But I am a BIG SE junky so I'd say that I would enjoy LR. I just heard someone say it was not great but that was over in the PS3 forums so it makes sence.. lol.

I don't see the point really. It would be way to expensive considering its the PS3 and I don't think anyone would really rush out to buy this game so it would sell like crap.

Its just not worth the effort.

PS3 has better RPGs than Last Remnant. Not many of them, but every one of them blow this one away.

Maybe next time square will learn when they use an engine and programming technique they have no idae how works and is their first time that they actually take time on the title instead of forcing it out of the gate.

the game sucks i dont get why you cows want it. seriously the load times are worse than ps1 games, and they happen every time you do anything or go into battle.

Well, SquareEnix said it's because :

1.) Last Remnant didn't sell good at all on 360 and even PC combined.

2.) Historically, Late Ports don't sell well.

So, why bother finishing it?

Taking M$'s money as a Timed Exclusive didn't help them, since the game didn't sell well anyways. Multiplat or not, this is one game that probably will never get a sequel, due to SE's handling of the NEW IP.

Ever since Square Merged with ENIX they've been terrible imo...has nothing to do with 360, PS3, or Wii. It was a bad merger for gamers, goof for them, perhaps, the jury's still out on that.

Now I have to settle for a buggy 360 version. Im not buying it till it goes down to $15 bucks, its already at $30 atleast

the battles consisted of some of the best this gen IMO, and the story line was also good. The only shortcomings on the 360 version were some techincal issues, such as lag when doing timed sequences (i put that on auto though); not very good sidequests; and it's a truly hardcore game, takes some serious skills to kill some bosses, especially at the end of the first disk.

I don't think PS3 owners have to worry because even a mediocre pc can run this game, like my T61p.

Lol, as I just bought TLR yesterday... To be honest, so far this game seems standard. I'm on the PC version with my settings max out and this game is ugly. While it is optomized for the PC, this game just plan doesn't look good.

Other than that, I can't comment, I've only played about an hour of it. Combat seems pretty soild...I'll get back to ya. Personally, WRPGs are just delivering a lot more than J-RPGs. Text based gameplay is last gen. I can't see how Square Enix still can't do full voice over. Although TRL is a pretty small game I couldn't believe that I was reading text.

Everybody already knew that the glitchfest remnant using UE3 is vaporwareon the ps3.

I dont even think anybody is expecting or wating for this game anymore.
