Square Enix talks FF Versus XIII PS3 exclusivity

Following the shocking news of Final Fantasy XIII going multiplatform, Square Enix has taken the opportunity to address its plans in regards to keeping Final Fantasy Versus XIII exclusive to the PlayStation 3.

In an interview with Square Enix Executive Shinji Hashimoto, it was revealed that not only will the game remain a PS3 exclusive, but game director Tetsuya Nomura (Parasite Eve and Final Fantasy VII) is developing another game outside of Versus called "One Goal Spirit".

Truth is Versus will probably go to the 360. Why wouldn't it? It makes tons of sense. Versus is probably coming out after FF13 so they are still probably still far behind in development.

But seriously- FF13 is the main game in the series, not vesus, that's a spin off. FF13 is the main game.

Yeah these kind of things are meaningless unless its a contractual Exclusive.

After Shinji Mikami I really don't care how many times a dev says their game is exclusive. Shinji Mikami should be dead like four times over by now.

Truth is Versus will probably go to the 360. Why wouldn't it? It makes tons of sense. Versus is probably coming out after FF13 so they are still probably still far behind in development.

My current thoughts on KH3 is it'll be a PS3/360 multiplat or Wii exclusive.

Its a spinoff just accept it. Its an Action RPG with 3rd Person Shooter including similar to like Derge of Cerebrus.

Its a complimentary game that goes along side the Main installment FFXIII.

The concept and thinking behind the game's plot and structure were impossible within another iteration like a Final Fantasy XIV. Yoshinori Kitase claimed that Versus XIII is a type of adventure that would be impossible within the numbered iterations of Final Fantasy.

All the FF games have been turn based.
FF13 is turn based. Versus isn't and strays by being an action game with rpg elements. Understand?

I don't understand how someone could think that FF is not the main game. Perhaps we should also say the cellphone game, since it falls under the same "umbrella" could be the main game?

Face it, FF13 is the main. I'm not saying Versus is going to be bad. I'm just saying it's not the main game.

It's not just the name, it's the gameplay mechanics. Does versus even have summons?

It will probably help the PS3 a little bit. While no doubt 360 owners will go buy FFXIII, I would think that FF fans who don't own a PS3 would buy it to have both, rather than a 360 to own just one.

Still, this really does not completely soften the blow for the PS3. Unless they can get more top notch exclusives and maybe get some more 360 exclusives to go multiplat (which can happen if Bioshock ends up doing well), then the PS3 will probably not be able to become #1 in this generation.

Although it still has a chance to become #1 in Japan with both versions of FFXIII. Even in the unlikely event FFXIII comes out for 360 in Japan, it wouldn't help push sales.

and thats a shame on KH3, though its not official, i get the feeling Microsoft is going to want their hands on it.

but you have to understand that there's multiple games coming out, just not them.

I seriously would have bought a Ps3 for FF13 (to be honest ff versus 13 will be something on the caliber on kingdom hearts, not worth buying alone). I was hoping that FF13 would come to the 360, not versus. I do still want it to come, but I'm not willing to buy a console for it.

I'd take Lost Odyssey over FF versus (assuming the info we have on versus is accurate)

If you're so keen on calling it a spin off, why don't you PROVE its a spin off. Both of these games fall under the same umbrella, which is the crystal nova thing. There is nothing that makes either of these games the "main game", and versus is merely latin for Change/destroy. Explain how its a spin off?
